Ok, I created this post to try to get people to think more outside of the box. I have read several posts stating Bungie set a release date in stone, and that the game could not be close to being finished according to the weekly updates because there are still a lot of bugs.

We don't know when these weekly updates were created, for all we know they were written last winter.

Also Bungie is not is not about to release a demo for the most anticipated game ever. It would simply be stupid, it might turn some people off the game etc. Bungie wants Halo 2 to be a huge suprise. Im not saying necessarily the game will be released August 24th but everything is open. Bungie loves the element of suprise, its a microsoft history too.

Wow, there are too many of this same exact thread, but since it's typed coherently I'll forgive you.

My opinion? The date that the actual game makers said that it will come out. I'm following the date that was advertised, not the date that a small, mostly irrelevant website is counting down to.

People are taking the Ilovebees thing way too seriously. Not only did Bungie say it would come out on the 9th, but they spent good money advertising it that way, and they would lose a lot more with a 24th release date. It's just wishful thinking.

Who says it's the release date ilovebees.com is counting down to? It could very well be anything, or, dare I say it, nothing more than lots of hype.

November 9th, for sure. I honestly couldn't understand the thought process that people would go through, to actually believe that it would come out on the 24th of August.

As been stated before, us Bungie.net people are almost the only ones that care, or know even about this whole ilovebees thing. We make up less than 1% of the entire Halo fanship. There is absolutely no reason that Bungie would change the release date just for us, leaving all of the other people that still think that it is November 9th, out in the cold.

Umm, I think you misunderstood my post. I actually meant that I'm not following the ilovebees date, not only because it's not the date that the game developer have stated and advertised, but also because it's a small website that has no evidence showing that it's counting down to the release date.

Likely ilovebees.com is counting down to something that, if not Halo 2 related, is at the very least Bungie related. But as has been stated many times over, it could be anything. I think that there will be a whole lot of disappointed people around here though. For each day that goes by without Halo 2 going gold, that makes it that much harder for Halo 2 to come out "early" (Not that it was going to anyway) . Oh it could concievably be done - but a project on that large a scale would NOT be easy to hide...

But it is counting to something....

many people have related the ESRB rating to the game already being finished. listen here: the first Halo's ESRB rating was given out on August 18th (or somewhere around there), 2001, and the final game was released November 15th, 2001. Just because the ESRB rating comes a good amount of time before the release doesn't mean it'll come out earlier.

Halo 2 has gone gold already, over 1,000,000 copies pre-ordered.

Halo 2 has not gone gold... It's not like a record man LOL
Going gold means the Master has been made for the game to be pressed from. It's usually a huge gold disk.

Personally i believe that we will have to wait till the medium metasizes in 9 days, after all i believe at that point the web page will change into something else...this might have already been brought up, just think it needs to emphasized.

See the thing is.... people have been saying Bungie will lose money on releasing early and such and there is no way they will. If it is released August 24th it will unleash mass chaos and insanity. People will be like oh -blam!- have to run get Halo 2 !! And during the holiday season Halo 2 will be in better supply and regular non-hardcore people will be able to buy it for their sons etc. If anything they will gain money

Bungie wants to turn heads......

I am afraid you are wrong about that. By Halo 1 being rated on Agust 18th didnt mean it wasent done and ready for release. But they couldnt release it yet because there was no Xbox. So if they released it on Agust, no one could be able to play it.

LOL that was funny. He doesnt know what going gold means...

For a game, going "Gold" means that its finalized, and its ready to be mass-produced into what you have in your house.

The release date is going to be November 9th. Bungie not only has stated such hundreds of times, but they have released a number of promos which display the date at the bottom, November 9th. Why would they go to all this trouble of telling people and spreading the information that Halo 2 will release or at least ship to stores November 9th, and then completely go back on all they have said an release the game on the 24th of August? Its not going to happen.

Perhaps, if we are lucky we will get some more information August 24th, and I have heard a few people speculate about a demo, reasonable valid speculation not mindless speculation. But, we will soon see as it's only a matter of days.

More are probably currently under production or even finished with production, we just haven't seen them yet.

The point is, Bungie wouldn't waste their money on any promos if they advertised the wrong date.
