Alright I'm not really tech savy, but couldn't Microsoft/Bungie save Halo 2 by making it apart of Games on Demand and give it online support? The whole reason (from what I know) that Halo 2 and all the other Xbox v.1 games are going offline is because Microsoft wants to add a few changes to XBL (make it be possible to have more friends on your friends list, etc.), couldn't Microsoft roll over those changes onto Halo 2 if its matchmaking was upgraded?
Tonight on Halo 2 was amazing, it reminded me a lot of what Halo 2 was like before Halo 3 came out; getting into games was really easy and was happening in no time, and also it seemed like the whole Halo 2 fanbase was online showing their support (whether it be seeing Halo 2 off with a couple games or trying to win prizes from Bungie) and showing that Halo 2 to this day, 5 1/2 years after its initial launch still means something to them. Maybe its just me, but after I left Halo 2 when I bought my 360 a couple years ago I kept looking for another game like Halo 2, a game that had a great community and had as much depth. To be honest though, I never did ever find anither game like Halo 2, its unique and can never be matched.
I know a bunch of people that haven't gotten 360's yet, not because they don't have the money, but because Halo 2 was/is their favorite game and they don't see the point in upgrading consoles if it isn't needed. If Microsoft did make Halo 2 apart of Games on Demand and made it online capable I could see those die hard Halo 2 fans upgrading to a 360 and inturn that could potentially boost sales of 360 Games. I feel bad for the people that are in a situation now where the game they love is being taken away from them, why not make it possible for them to continue enjoying the game they bought for a price?
IMO XBL >XBC for the simple fact that XBL has matchmaking.
