Lewis Belding: I got 18 people in my hotel! Where are they gonna go?
The Stranger: Out.
Hey Monobrow, here's the views of a Scottish insomniac... ;-)
1. Being in the UK or Europe meant staying up into the wee small hours...I started playing at 5pm GMT, and sat right through until 1.30pm the next day, stopped for two hours and then carried on again until 3.30am-ish...The longest time I've played continuously since GTA San Andreas came out...
The best part was hanging out with some new found friends on the first night, met them at about 10pm and stayed in the same party until 1.30...So special shoutouts to ivantrembow, Codejunky, oOMrCheeseyOo, detwiler, Firecrest, ViolatedManatee, ViewtifulBacon and the rest....
Oh and making the last 566 players was pretty awesome too! :-)
2. The servers were definitely a lot busier than in the past on Halo 2...far quicker to get into matches, and far easier to find people in things other than Rumble Pit and Big Team Battle...
3. Used to play the game for hours back in the day, but mostly via System Link at my mates...getting 16 people in 4 different rooms, filling them with alcohol and pizza and watching the bodies and abuse fly was always a laugh...but when I finally got LIVE last year, I played this quite regularly, but it was really hard to find a match sometimes...
4. Like I said, I played it when the mood took me...I actually preferred the multi-player to Halo 3 online...it just seemed faster paced!
It's been the most I've enjoyed LIVE ever over the last few days though...for the last hours on Wednesday, right through Thursday, all the usual Trash-talking and mic-abuse stopped...people were just chatting away and having a laugh, or sharing their grief at the passing of Halo 2..You really got a sense of community! I added 10 friends to my Friend List that night, the most I've ever added at one time...
It was a true event as far as I'm concerned...up there with The Millennium, or Woodstock or something... :-)
I'll never forget the last couple of days, probably because most of them are burned into my retinas from staring at the screen too long....I just hope that Reach gives the same satisfaction...
