I have more than enough tim to line up these cross-map shots on Blood Gulch. I've the crosshair aimed perfectly at the head, pull the Trigger... No kill?
Can someone tell me whats going on here?
I've had this happen easily 20 times between lastnight and right now as Im typing this.

Lag.

Problem is they're standing perfectly still for well over 30 seconds. Its not like i have to do much to line up the shot.
How could lag be messing with this?
Unless it's packet loss

Coag (Blood Gulch) is a big map, when your sniping across the entire map, you can't put your crosshair on their head, you gotta lead your shots a bit...

If you're crouched next to some cover, move away from it a tad. Sometimes the cover gets hungry and nom noms your shots.

Seriously.

Like i said, they were standing perfectly still, there was no need to lead the shot.

Well then, its lag or some sort of other network issue. It's not just you, happens to me on that map all the time. Yesterday I was playing Gulch Wars, and there was a guy on the stationary turret on the roof of the base... I put 4 sniper rounds in his head, the first 3 did nothing, and the 4th just took down his shields.

"Paradox is a pointer telling you to look beyond it. If paradoxes bother you, that betrays your deep desire for absolutes. The relativist treats a paradox merely as interesting, perhaps amusing, or even, dreadful thought, educational." - Leto II

I think there's a maximum bullet travel distance in Halo 2.

The issue is that you didn't complete the weapon calibration. You need to beat the Halo 2 campaign, and once you realize there's a cliff hanger that will never be explained or finished, you have to grab a nearby golf club or similar blunt object and proceed to beat your Xbox. Or you could always tell it to straighten up and play nice, though I prefer the first option.

Been done already.

Check out my YouTube channel,

If I'm not mistaken, there is a maximum bullet distance. On Coag, if you try to shoot from one of the bases to the back of the map on the other side, it usually won't work.

If I recall correctly though. It's been a while.

I dont know, I had problems like sword not being one hit kill, and I survived several sniper shots, that only took small portions of my shields.

Remember to check your handicap. And they might also have their own handicap on.

That happened to me yesterday. Except after I finished shooting a guy on their team shot me across the map and killed me in one shot. I was like WTF?

Halo doesn't have a ballistics engine like some other games do, so you don't have to lead even if you are 100 miles away in Halo games.

I think it is lag or something like hit scan/hit screen that everyone complained about in Halo 2.
