Something smells fishy...

I've been playing a lot of Halo Combat Evolved PC lately. I've been playing on my favorite servers.

But recently I've come across some players with controversial names. I remember one was Nancy Pelosi (Which isn't so bad). But there have been several names with political influence.

I know that there are tensions now since the universal health care bill was passed. But I don't understand why it has to be brought to Halo. I understand one can't control others but I feel kind of offended at times.

Here are some other names I've encountered:
Obamacare
Obamasucks(something like that)

So I'd like to hear if anyone else has seen any politically controversial names recently.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

I've seen people put so many things, that i am not going to post them here.

I've used Fuh Q as a name before, I just threw the last bit in because I thought it fit.

Yea I do that sometimes. I got banned from a Christian server because of that name, lol..

I know that on the BC servers, if the server starts making a stink about someones name and it happens to be religious, political or of the nature that is inappropriate, you will be asked to change it or be kicked.

Now a racist name/chat will get u banned on the spot

Halo 2 Support!
I miss it so....

From my stand point and view on such things, as funny as these names can sometimes be in first person shooters (ooh I killed obama stuff) In reality it might be some psychological thing... Bringing their political view into the game in some strange manor whether they think its just funny or something deeper I cannot truly tell you.
I can say that most people do these things because they think its funny, or to frustrate other people. Though as I said there can and may be some deeper meaning to their reason.

I had encountered BaraakObama once in halo 2 xbox live. He quit the game and I never saw the tags again, however I do have photo evidence of the encounter and it was a little amusing to think that I could have been fighting BaraakObamam.

Yeah it is definitely personal issues people are binging to games. Most likely it's due to current political tensions in the United States.

One of my friends once went into a Halo PC game with the username "T.Schaivo." He continually jumped off cliffs so the game would say "T.Schaivo died."

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphors have two parts : form and interpretation; of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom being the briocoleus, the mason.

a vehicle, or something of that nature, always incredibly annoying. When I used to host stunt servers i would just start kicking people because there were usually multiple people under the name of "a vehicle"

I just go by gravy in Halo because the 666 part tends to offend religious types. :/

Thankfully, Microsoft and the folks on Xbox Live don't care, because gravy666 has been my Gamertag for the past two, almost three years.

Neo has officially been promoted to barf cleaner-upper and pukee hair holder.
I am honored to have that position. While your barfing I can steal your wallets!

It's creepy enough that people stalk Bungie via Webcams, but it's even worse how they stalk back.

Does anyone remember the server "Heather's Vagina?"

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Yes. I go there all the time. *snicker*

I find it sad that people are concerned about foul/controversial language in a game where players shoot each other to death or run each other over.

I agree. I started this post mainly centered around politically controversial names in Halo 1 PC. It seems as though other posters missed that.

But although players do indeed shoot each other and run each other over with vehicles, players should not give themselves politically offensive names. Mixing politics from the "real world" with make-believe is a dangerous concoction.

You wouldn't talk about religion, sex, or politics at the dinner table with people you barely knew. Why would you express your views on the world in a game?

Okay, now I see your point. I guess I'm guilty of this type of behavior, too. I'm always shooting off my trap against people who bring up politics, racism, et cetera, which makes me just as bad. I would guess it's mostly done to provoke people, something MLG promotes...
