I don't care about ESRB ratings. The best games are rated M.

halo got an m rating purely for violence, so i dont think any one should really be denied playing this game. i mean really, little kids imagine things more violent than halo...but thats my piece of mind

and i dont agree...some of my favorite games are rated teen or even everyone i.e. Zelda

btw im 16

Maybe you don't believe anything about video games making you violent, but when a mother buys a game like Max payne for her kids or GTA 3 for her kids, the change is apparent. I'd rather not have 8 year olds talking about banging hookers. Oh wait, thats how old half the Halo player are.

LOL the worst is when they try to sound like an adult and fall flat on their faces -- Don't get me wrong - There are a few in here that are just fine- and I don't mind them -- But assinine comments like - It only got an M for violence -- Well why do you think that is skippy? Kid's shouldn't be around violence. I'd rather see my kids around -blam!- than violence - Violence is unnatural...

Violence, in any form, is completely natural. Predators, like us (we qualify as both preds and herbivores, we are omnivores), are violent when hunting food, and we need food to live, so it's natural. In fact violence is in the design of most animals, as there is a lot of it during mating rituals, e.g. Elephant seals, deer, big cats ( I think), etc.

And I'm under the ESRB recc. age. The rating is more of a guideline than a rule anyway.

Exactly, when a mother or a parent buys it for thier kids. In every store, except for online, you have to present valid ID, or look old enough to go without ID, to buy M rated games. It is the parents fault for letting their children play the games. Not ours. Im 14 BTW, and i see all these things blaming it on the videogames, I have three words. "Turn it Off" you have a choice whether you play the games, or whether you allow yoru children to play the games parents. But I stand by this to the day I die. and you can quote me You can turn off the TV, you can turn off your videogame system, but you cannot turn off real life.

The worst thing is when an adult tries to sound smart, and better than thou, but then says something to totally contradict themselves. When anyone watches -blam!-, it warps their mind, it makes them think about women, as sex objects, objects of pleasure instead of human beings, thats how people start to become rapists. Its starts in the home. And you saying that you would rather let your kids watch -blam!-. You are an unfit parent.

Absolutely beautiful *claps loudly*. Your logic is undeniable (just saw i,robot hehe), and I'm not being sarcastic. All of it's the tru7h, and nothing but the tru7h (no offense to Jim, but Derrick's right).

To add onto that, it's also up to the parents to teach their kids what's right and what's wrong. I know kids who play M games all the time and they're not affected. That's because they have good ethics, and their parents have a part in that.

id have to say, in todays world with all the violence on the news, parents should stop complaining about how violent and sex related video games are becoming...just, i dont know, maybe be a PARENT and monitor what your kids are watchin and playing. and as far as the comment violence is unnatural, thats not true, id have to say it is one of the most natural aspects of the human physce. ever heard of the roman gladiators? what do you think made them so popular? and of course you could say that was way back when, but the only reason we dont have them to day is because we say we are too "civilized". which is just really just a state of denial.

so yes, kids that are eight shouldnt be playing games like gta which involve banging hookers and such...but as far as the violence goes...well the media is more graphic than most video games, so that is kind of a null point. and besides, if your that worked up over it, buy em ocarina of time, there is some good ol fashioned fun :P

Like i stated earlier, its not the kids, buyign it for themselves, they cant just walk into a store and demand a copy of Halo.

They cant walk into a sex store period. So where are they getting it from? Thier friends you say? Monitor whats friends they have, it all comes back down to the parents.

you are right...im sixteen, and if my dad hadnt been with me, i wouldnt have got my copy of halo. so, once again...parenting is the issue...not the violence...and plus i dont think ive ever seen MC pick up a hooker in his warthog...maybe the scorpion (for those of us who watch red vs blue...lol)

Nice refference there *thumbs up*. And it's true, if it has guns and realistic blood it's getting an M (occasionaly T).

You took something I said way out of context --
I'd rather not have my children exposed to EITHER.
Let's just get that straight. Given the choice however I would take the lesser of the 2 evils. And the comment about "how people become rapists" was assinine. -blam!- is an act of Violence. Thats all it ever was. So while your argument was well made - It essentially falls flat on it's face -
And I want to know how many of the children in here agreeing with you are parents? Hands anyone?
I am a GREAT parent - No need to be modest about it - My daughter is loved and nurtured and well cared for. Unless you have children yourself - be quiet about who's fit to raise them. Your argument was baseless and, at the end, out of line. You can tell the difference between the children and the adults and you've just proven it.

I will however agree to one thing, and agree to it wholeheartedly - Parents are the reason for their chidrens problems. Too many of them now are relegating the responsibilities of being a good parent to the television and computer. This includes many of the people in here as well. I was 12 or so when Mortal Kombat came out on Sega Genesis (Maybe a little older or younger) As I recall - My mother came with me to the arcade and played it herself before she would buy it for me - So she could explain to me why the game gave her issues and to make sure I dealt with it in a resonsible manner - THAT'S great parenting..

And what is the lesser, mmm? I choose violence, the other one can just mess with their little heads. By the way, I'm not doubting your parenting skills, he is.

I do have to agree with im, about the parenting, I am not a parent yes you are right. But I am 14 goign on 15 I have had to take care of my brother since he was 2 years old, I have had to dress him, I have had to get himready for school, I hav had towake up at 6 oclock on the morning, and get him ready while our mom was hard at work....so i think ihave an idea.

-blam!- while is an act of violence, what promotes someone to do it, it has to be something that they have watched, and something that provoked them, while there are cases, of just it being violence some are not.

But I am not an adult, but i am a young man, and i can admit when i am wrong, so i apologize for saying that you are an unfit parent. Fomr the way you speak, i am sure you are a very good parent, but i was only going on what you wrote, and the context of what you wrote, thats all i had to go on. an no hard feelings

And you can tell the difference between adults, and children, you have lived a hella lot longer than i have, therefore you know more than me, and I respect that, wholeheartedly.

And you have definetley taught me something. And i will carry that with me for the rest of my life. So I thank you.

That is up to each individual parent to decide - Now as someone attempted to say this earlier I think it needs debunking - Violence - For humans - is NOT natural - not anymore. We live in a civilized world, You can't go down the street punching random people all day and expect to stay out of jail. Why? Because Violence isn't natural. Whenever a poll goes out about the #1 wish in the world, what does it inevitably return to? World Peace. Why? Because Violence isn't natural. Relations of an intimate nature ARE natural - which is why you don't go to jail for being married. That's my stand on it -

A little violence - say a movie or a (*gasp*)videogame are just fine in moderation, So is intimacy (provided it's between people of the same maturity level when they are old enough to make the decision) in moderation. But between the two when they start to escalate- I know which one is less likely to put someone in a belltower.

i never said anything about anyone being a bad parent, just making a choice, and i didnt quite agree with the whole -blam!- is an act of violence thing, its actually a combination of sex and violence. and i do agree with screening games and such, and talking with your children about the difference between the games and reality. my seven year old cousin plays halo, along with his 12 year old brother...i dont neccasarily think its good for him...but he hasnt tried to shoot me with anyhting yet, so im willing to let it go. so basically the ratings are there to help parents make better informed decisions, hey! whether or not you let your five year old play halo is none of my buisness. so unless some one sees a problem with my thinking thats all i have to say.
