Congratulations on not enjoying your 360's full potential!

I don't have a gold subscription i just buy three month gold cards once in a while (i think 3 times in total) and i play a lot of multiyplayer on my brothers account which has gold monthly subscription. On my account I have played about 300 halo 3 games but in total using my brothers account i have played loads more and being guest. Same with halo 2 the 14th was the first time i had played halo 2 of this account but i have played hundreds of matches over the years..

Love BTB ? www.ilovebtb.com

When i had my first XBox, i couldn't play Live, but Halo 2 is probably the game i have the most played, with friends on campaign, multi-player.
I had to sell my XBox and my games on 2007, and i just buy XBox360 in 2009 ; the first thing i did was buy Halo3, Halo2 and Halo: CE.

Last year i almost played Halo 3 on Live because it was new, but never forget the taste of Halo 2.

I regret that i've played Halo 2 Live just the last days, because i find back fun sensations and pleasure that i've not with Halo 3 ... That's to late, i know, but i'm still pretending that i care about Halo 2, and i'll still play the campaign (oh yeah, some Halo: CE + Halo 2 + Halo 3 non-stop campaign weeks !).

Still using a pump-action shotgun over 500 years in the future I see.

omg not realistic stop game production plz

I've only had the chance to play about 100 games of online Halo 2, mainly because of me getting it AFTER I got Halo 3 (I think I got H2 mid 2009, not sure) and to be honest, I did enjoy the matches I had. I did spend some time waiting for games to load - up to half an hour sometimes - and that kind of put me off playing H2.

But I'd like to prove I was a Halo 2 fan by noting that I have played about 35 matchmade games in the last couple days - not bad, right?

And ONE more thing. If we start talking about Campaign Veterans of Halo 2, I am the Champion. I have played more H2 Campaign than a lot of you will have in several years, because I LOVE the story and the music of H2.

50 in Head to Head, Team Objectives, Team Slayer, Team Doubles, Team Snipers, Team Swat, and MLG! Halo 2: 40 Team slayer, 34 Team Hardcore, 37 Team Doubles.

I came back for the memories, I left because I was sick of never finding matches in double team. I started Halo 2 online on january 23, 2005. That was five years ago. Had Halo 1 and 2 since release date, still have the receipts.

I make a legitimate thread on the most logical choice for the next Bond actor, and you take that away from me by creating a parody thread indirectly connecting my thread to yours.

I hope your kids have bad influences and develop bad personalities. I wish this with all my heart.

You are absolutely right. We need to preserve Halo 3. When Xbox releases a new console, keeping coming back to the 3.

I love Halo 2 and I really think Halo 3 is garbage. I just can't play Halo 3 anymore and have decided to quit permanently. When Reach comes out though, I'm all over that!!! I didn't play Halo 2 because none of the friends I made played it anymore. On top of that, 1/2 of them have simply disappeared from LIVE completely. And even on top of that, some of us have more responsibilities now then we did years ago. I was 15 years old when I played Halo 2 regularly. All I had to worry about was going to school the next day then coming home and playing Halo until it was time for bed. I am now about 3 and 1/2 months from turning 21. I have a full time job now, which is overnight so I get on around 7 am and nobody is on then. The last time me and my friend played Halo 2, we would either not get any matches or when we did get in a match, we would get double shotted like crazy. It really stomped on the memories I had of the game. Sure there was glitching in the past (and modding) but it wasn't every single game. The population was so low that you would get the same people every single game just about.

Overall, I'm very sad Halo 2 is gone. Every time I played it, I thought of much happier and carefree times. Wish I could go back to when H2 was the only thing I played.

I <3 you too Bungie

Bought a 360 and was playing Halo 3. My 360 was one of the versions that didn't support backward compatability (I tried) and I didn't have feel like buying a 2nd gamertag so that I could maintain one on both my 360 and my original xbox. Just bought an elite system (have a full time job now) and am playing my heart out till everyone is gone...help schedule a game?

To be honest, I always prefered Halo 2 to Halo 3 and other games, but as my friends abandond it so had I. Not because I moved on, but it was playing with friends that made the game fun.

It is no fun playing alone. If they stayed to play I would have left it as my primary.

[Insert Catchy Phrase here]

I suck that's why I never played much I wish I had though.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I though my Halo 2 disk did not work, but aparently, i tryed it out after a couple of years, and to my surprise it worked.

So i have been playing nothing but Halo 2 in the past 3 days before the 15th.

  • 04.17.2010 6:32 AM PDT

Halo 3. Mass Effect. Assassin's Creed. L4D2.
I've played a bunch of different games- only coming back to Halo 2 for certain occasions. But that certainly does NOT mean that I do or did not care about it. I would not have played for hours on its "final" day if I didn't care. I shall miss it.

To me it's not that the game itself is shutting down as much as it's the fact that a game that I dedicated myself to so much is going down. Until the last couple of months, I haven't played Halo 2 since Halo 3 came out. But just the fact that it's going offline is like my best friend who moved away a long time ago just died. I never talked to that friend since he moved, but I remember all the time we spent together...

Good god that's the truth. What a great post, my feelings exactly. When I first got Halo 2 in late 2006/early 07, It was just so fun (even though I was terrible at Halo then) playing it online during my eighth grade year. I never played any sort of thing like it and it STILL has the best maps, hand down, out of all the games in the Halo series. All though I did move on to Halo 3, I still love the time I DID put into Halo 2 so don't call us fake OP for going back to an old friend in its dying days. I even started playing again a week before the servers went down and a couple of days before. But anyway, Halo 2 was so fun while it lasted and brings back some really awesome memories from being in junior high and whatnot.

  • 04.17.2010 6:40 AM PDT

I'd play about once a month, unfortunately I was unable to play during it's final hours.

  • 04.17.2010 6:58 AM PDT

Since when do you have the right to tell people what to be sad about. I only played 20 games of halo 2, but I know it made many people happy in the time they played it. Halo 2 was a solid game and I hate to see it go. To all the 15 still fighting, you have all my support.

All it took was a stew of whoopass.

Where was I? Fair question. I was playing the campaign since '04 through Dec. of '07 since I didn't have Xbox Live nor knew what it was. Then I played online a little bit in '08, then back to the campaign a little more in '08 and '09. I hope I answered your question clearly.

  • 04.17.2010 7:19 AM PDT

Here to end the borrowed time you've all been living on.

I started from Halo: CE when Halo 3 came out. I got Halo 2 PC instead of the xbox version. Then I got Halo 3. When I heard Halo 2 was shutting down, I bought the xbox version just to play it. Then my internet connection irreparably crapped out on me, and I never got to actually play it,I should have started playing before the last few days.

The loss we feel is equal to that of getting your first bike stolen away from you. We didn't ride it because we had since then been riding newer version that are technically better. Memory is attatched to the object in question, not actual quality value. In truth; we play the game in its final hou.-days to remeniss with others and to pay our respects. One could say that we care more for the game than you do since you never moved on. We have the greater perspective and you're pissed cause you don't for whatever reason. Aren't you glad that there were so many people willing to come and say farewell? If we all were like you than nobody would have come back cause we would all be as thickheaded as you about HALO 3. We have a right to complain and WE WILL!

Wow, thanks for the insults.

I have no problem with people being sad to let the game go, by no means do I suggest that that feeling is misplaced in anyone even if they left Halo 2 long ago.

All my issue is with, is that the people who have only been playing the game very recently and are angry about it's loss when they could have been playing for far longer.

I can see your point with the old bike analogy, but there is no logic behind your statement about caring more for the game than I did. For me, Halo 2 was the most enjoyable online game to have existed, by me continuing to play it and you not, how does that show you care more for it's disconnection, seeing as you haven't been playing. lol.

The bottom line of the post is that I wish the people who have been so active on this forum and the game very recently, would have done so more beforehand. Just a shame for me that they didn't.

I could have had more fun for longer :)

well I have never been able to play H2 on my 360, it kept saying download content or something like that. About a year and a half ago though I think I was able to play I just didn't because I had tried so many times before that I assumed it wouldn't work. I did find out I could play and played the last few days though.

  • 04.17.2010 9:12 AM PDT

I was there the whole time.. Played a few times every month or so

Strong statements lead to strong responses in turn.

You gave the impression of belittling our feelings for HALO 2 and then blaming us for its' end in a "it-didn't-have-to-be-this-way" sort of way.

Meanwhile the ones of us who left to traversed among the sea of other games and then still came back to it after years, have the impressions of all games that we have played and in comparisons to HALO 2 they are superior. Only when HALO 2 is judged on the basis of its' own premises is the game truly good.

To sum up my point for people with headaches: We had the option to play "better" games and we choose the inferior for no other reason than for our love for it.
