I'm not sure how, but when I turned on my Xbox today, Halo was in it.
Concidering I had 3 other friends around, we decided to play some split screen. But damn. Did we get a suprise.
That game is actully a lot worse then I remember. A ghost (me) could take on a tank, because somehow the plasma made it unable to turn. The shotgun was as unpredictable as Halo 2's, at far range it could take someone out in 4 shots, while upclose it was hard with 3 (I'm sure the smarter people can see what I mean).
The AR is a worse spray weapon then SMG/PR combo! About half of that thing could take out a guy. Damned as hell, if he knew what he was doing he could out-strafe the pistol.
The pistol had the ability to miss even though 75% of the reticle was in a guys head (I was watching two guys battle it out while I shook off my suicide penalty).
Throwing a plasma grenade is as helpful as fireing a rocket at your feet. Even if you get them, they've relised they can take you out too. Frag grenades took a good 2 seconds to blow. That ment that my run away stratergy of "Run behind a corner and drop a grenade at your feet" was useless. Unless I did it 3 seconds in advance (A lifetime when being chased with no sheilds)
The sniper was INSAINLY easy to snipe people. A friend took out two guys running right at him. Then I managed to shoot him down in one shot. It seemed to slow down a lot faster then Halo 2, even including the massive autoaim of H2.
The needler was better used as a smoke screen then a weapon. Even when they ran at you in a straight line, it managed to miss. It was like two negative magnent sides getting pushed close to each other.
The plasma pistol.. was.. well.. useless. It just sat on the ground... watching.. not being picked up. Because we had all relised that it only went in a straight line and even if you did hit them, it would take about two more ful charges to kill a guy.
The tank felt like.. well, a tank. It moved slow, but had a feeling of thrice the power.
On bigger maps, like Blood Gultch, there were two weapons used.
Pistol. Sniper.
If you didn't have a sniper, you had to pray you didn't spawn in the middle. Although I admit this is the same as Halo 2, either way you put it, it isn't a good feeling. Even more so since you have a weapon that could possibly hit them, but you're too damned far away.
The radar was so sensitive, it seemed like when I was at red base, I could pick them up while they were at blue. An extemly painful feeling on Prisoner(sp?), with so many levels, those little red dots get on your nerves.
Atleast now, when someone used the rocket too close, they died.
I guess Halo was fun. We had a good time playing campain.. jumping down from the top bridge on AOTCR to where the marines were..
But really, after playing both Halo and Halo 2, I'm hoping the '360 will come out soon..
I'm sorry for the -blam!-ing, but I feel like some people are blindly sticking up for Halo / Halo 2. I'm a massive fan, but I'm admitting they're not the best.
