I want to thank Bungie for all the great things that it has brought into this world.
I was a 9 year old Nintendo kid growing up in suburbia in a nice content life. It wasn't until one afternoon when I went over my friend's house to find him and his brothers playing this strange game unlike any other that I had ever seen.
Halo is what they called it. 10 minutes into playing the game I couldn't put the controller down. I was engulfed in Halo and it would take me years to realize what I would become.
Jumping ahead a few years and gaming magazines later, I pick up Halo 2. It was still the game that I knew and loved but now it contained features that I never dreamed of using. Throwing enemies out of Warthogs, soaring over my brother with a Banshee on Ascension. This game was perfect. My brother and I would spend hours driving around Coagulation and Headlong, ramming warthogs headfirst into one another and having scorpian battles that would last from breakfast til dinner. Little did I, I was missing one of the key components that would set the Halo franchise apart from any other.
Xbox Live is what my friend called it. Confused I picked up his extra controller and prepared for the journey that would take me for loops and spins tossing me onto my head not knowing which way is up.
I got to a point where ever Saturday my friend and I would meet at his house and play halo 2 all day long in his basement's 14 inch tv.
The rest is history.
I had successfully coralled my friends who still owned H2 into playing yesterday. They're normally a H3 and MW2 bunch who dreaded returning to a game like H2. It wasn't until a match in did they realize how much had they forgotten and remember the amazing things that we had done together in this game.
They thanked me for reminding them about all that they had forgotten, but instead it should be you who we should be thanking Bungie.
Thank you Bungie for all that you have done for us. You have brightened my childhood with hours of fun and excitement. Never again will I have a similar experience. I look forward to Reach and all of the new memories to be had as soon as we can get our hands on it.
