Pioneer and Enthusiast for Halo 3.

Im just curious. Is Windows XP more popular than vista? Also, which has more errors, glitches, hackers, and problems. Vista or XP?

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

As of now, vista/7 and xp are about the same: http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/
XP has more as it is a 2001 os! Vista and 7 are slower because they are newer osses, though everyone says 7 is better.

That logic is wrong. :/

I've gone through XP, Vista and went to 7 in about a month, and for me the performance in 7 was actually better than XP.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

I never got to test that myself on a single PC, as when I moved to Vista, it was also a move to a new PC. But I did move up to Win7, and the performance difference between 7 and Vista was night and day.

Though if you do look at the survey, you'll notice that over half of the people running a GPU that supports DX10 and up are running either Vista or Windows 7, so it's safe to say that newer OS's are far more popular among people who play newer PC games.

I laughed a little bit when I saw the "Number of CPUs per PC" section. My Phenom 8400 is so unpopular it doesn't even have a place in Steam's surveys. xD

no offense but XP is obsolete... (in the gaming world)

It's still used widely in offices but they are upgrading to 7 within the years.

Can you play with people on Vista if you have Windows?

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

XP is only obsolete for gaming because Microsoft doesn't allow DX10 or higher on it. If you want to utilize your new DX11 hardware, you aren't doing it on XP.

Online Multiplayer on a particular game is not OS dependent.

Wait a second. Are you insinuating that Vista isn't a Windows OS? Wow. What an idiot.

And you actually had the audacity to attack me in another thread. Go back to your Xbox, kid.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I have only one game I can't play on XP. Guess which one. I also see that DX10 offers next to no visual improvements, but does provide a nice performance hit. :(

You could try BFBC2, but you can't see through some turrets unless you're running DX10.

I've also noticed that DX10 doesn't present much of a performance hit in a 64-bit environment, at least in the games I've been playing (Crysis, BFBC2, AC2). But then again, it might just be the awesomesauce of Win7 doing that.

I did see improvements with Crysis on Vista. I'll have to install the corporate trial of Win7 and try again. It was a problem with Doom 3 and OpenGL that made me run away mad. Then again, how many Windows games use OpenGL nowadays...

Problems with Doom 3? Was it patched to 1.3? What video card were you using?

As for me, I play it just fine. I even tweaked the FOV for widescreen.

Though I could imagine some problems with an old game like that. Hell, when the next OS comes out, playing Doom 3 will probably be a lot like trying to play Mechwarrior 2 on Vista.

Lol Mechwarrior 4 works very well on Windows 7 Professional, at least 32-bit

I'm sure Mechwarrior 4 does, yeah. I'm talking about Mechwarrior 2 though, which won't run on anything past Win98 without emulation.

I'm still waiting for them to release Mech 4 for free on MekTek like they said they were going to last year. :\

I have used every windows operating system extensively since windows 3.11, and windows 7 is by far my favorite, with xp in second. Vista is definitly at the bottom of the stack for not adding anything significant a being broken.
