Quite some time ago my 360 decided to "break" on me. For the most part, I was unable to play anything disc-based on it outside of a CD. Even so, I used to leave it on and over the course of the day I would open and close the disc tray in an attempt to get it to read Halo 2 or 3.
It only worked twice for me, and every other time if I wanted some Halo I had to go to a friend's place. The first time it worked, my 360 ended up freezing up after a few games. The second time was 4 days ago.
I was bummed out that I wouldn't be able to play any Halo 2 in the big finale, but decided, just for kicks, why not give my 360 a try? I popped in Halo 2, and as usual, my 360 didn't read it. Over the course of the night, I would walk by the old 360 and open and close the tray to try and get it working again.
After a few hours, I heard that magical Halo 2 music and saw that bungie logo light up my screen. I got excited and went to play, but I had to update it before I could. Now, normally, this wouldn't be important, but it restarted my 360, which meant I'd have to battle with Halo 2 again to try and get the 360 to read it.
But, for whatever reason, it read it immediately, which it had NEVER done since it broke. I went on to play well into the morning, and opted to leave the old 360 on for good measure. When I got home the next day, I was still able to play me some Halo 2, and I was excited knowing I'd be able to play in the finale.
However, when I got back home on the 14th, we had had a power outage, and my 360 had been cut off. I booted it up, expecting the worst, but got treated to another screen full of Halo 2. I ended up playing as long as I could, well into the next morning until I went off to bed.
Yesterday when I noticed the servers were still up, I tried to get back online, which I thought would be no sweat since the 360 was still on from the night before. But, as it turns out, it had frozen up. A bit discouraged, I rebooted it. And yet again I was treated to an instant boot up of Halo 2.
But then when they locked everyone out of the servers, I went to try Halo 2 one more time after cutting my 360 off.
This time it didn't work. It still doesn't work.
So, basically, my broken 360 magically fixed itself long enough for me to enjoy one last hoorah of Halo 2.
I for one think it's much more than a coincidence.
And it's also worth noting I had a friend's 360 laying in wait if mine didn't work, but I ended up not needing it the entire time.
Just thought I'd share this little "miracle" with you all.
