Even though XBL support for H2 is on it way, will people still be able to play over the net using XBConnect? The last time I tried using it was back in the H1 days before there was online MP, but it was so poor if you weren't the host. As this was 7 years ago though, has anyone tried using it with Halo 2?

If so what was it like?

Everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion.

I'm part of the Bungie.net Minecraft group/server called SeptaCrafters
We're a Bungie.net group that goes to our very own Bungie server. Most players are from the Halo community either off Bungie itself or through word to Halo friends.

I heard someone talking about this. They said it was pretty good.

You could also try Xlink.

yeah its till around, there are other things like it to, but I hear a lot of the games are laggy.

The games will probably lag if H2 uses a different netcode for system link and Xbox Live. And I don't think much people will play it. H2 is pretty much dead :(

Perhaps out of this some good will come. Perhaps someone will create a new and better infrastructure to that of XBConnect

That's just because Halo 1 wasn't designed to be played online, and it just didn't work very well with a ping over 50-60. Halo 2 is designed to play online. If you pick games with a decent ping, it should work fine. It will probably be harder to find those games, since there are fewer people, but it should still be better than playing Halo 1.

There are plenty of people playing it all the time. Both XBConnect and Xlink Kai have regular players. Give it a shot. You may have some bad experiences from time to time but most of the games I have ever played on it were pretty fluid for both Halo and Halo 2. Plus... if you have never sat around playing Halo 1 online for a few hours then you are really missing out on something and tunneling software is the only way you can do that.

I personally use XBC often for Halo 2 even before I heard XBL was shutting down for it, it works fine and there isn't really any noticeable lag if you join a decent game.

populations 10 game right now. h2v would be better with more people on all the time but has lots of issues.

I tried out xbconnect about 2 weeks ago. The lag wasn't really bad at all and it was really quite fine.
