Subject: To all of you still playing

A Halo 2 Glitch Master, "retired" since i couldn't find anything good in Halo 3, hoping for a come back. I'm a huge Marathon fan too. If you want to verse me, please message me through my Bungie.net profile.
My weapon of choice is the warthog (Driving); I'm one of the best drivers out there, so if i get my hand on a vehicle, you're going to wish i hadn't XD

April 20th I became one of the final 30 people to play Halo 2 online. Unfortunately I was kicked by Microsoft that day.

all i can say is, Heck No We Won't Go!

i love halo 2 too much to just let it die, especially if there's actually a way to prevent it form dieing. I payed money for this game, and xbox live, and microsoft shouldn't take it away form me just because they think it will benefit me =/

Your concern is duly noted, but I disagree.
We are staying with an old friend until the very end.
It's the least we can do...
It won't ever end if you guys don't get off. Lol!

I know what you're saying man - it's not cool that some people are just leaving their boxes on. But we're not all like that - check my record - some of us are hardcore. I can't believe how long I've been playing, non stop, and at this point I want to see how far I can take it...wish me luck.
THIS ^^^ is respectable. Simply refusing to sign out is like being an unwelcome house guest

I look at it like you're a house guest whose presence is the only thing keeping the house from bursting into flames.

Just for clarity, I didn't direct that at you. What you're doing is awesome. Others are just exploiting the fact that you don't have to sign out.

My GT is actually lockepyker - somehow I got linked with my g/f's tag...so that should answer your first question.
Since you're here, take time to visit my file share. I mean, I have beach grifball in there - and you know you want some of that . Thanks!
See you in the rumble pit!

No worries - I was trying to make a joke.
My sense of humor might not be that great at the moment though...sorry ;)

How exactly are you keeping it alive? Are you going to turn your Xbox into a public service so everyone can still play Halo 2? Halo 2 is dead, and you're just hanging out with it and not calling the embalming service.

Uh, we're playing it online. Yeah...

  • 04.16.2010 12:53 PM PDT

I don't think idle players count toward the player count. Just an opinion as to why every hour since 2:30 EST the pop. has risen by a few players who got hoome from school, work etc.

I for one accidentally fell asleep many times last night as I was playing, took a couple homework breaks, and then finally gave up at 6:45 CST to go to class.

You strike me as a typical idiot. Saying things like, "I HAVE A RIGHT," and missing out on points constantly. You can keep replying here if you want, but there's no use trying to get through to you.

More power to the players who are left. It is a great tribute and showing to bungie of how much the community cares. If you don't want people to be playing, then just pretend, I have a feeling this'll last another week with a few die hard players who have some crazy xbox fan mods, and have one's with motherboard that can withstand the pressure.

Nope. I played my final game of Halo 2 when I wanted to, came to terms, and said my last goodbye. I'm done with it. It just bothers me that everyone else thinks they're keeping it alive if they just leave their Xboxes running while they're away.

How many are doing that? I don't know, perhaps you do? People are still playing the game, they'll quit at their own time.

Uhmm..have you even LOOKED at who you're talking to? He made an excellent point of you supporting one of the previous posters, when Crazy himself is, and has been, doing the same thing.
So, typical idiot, do your homework, you might get 'above average' idiot ;)

Yeah that's kind of bothering me too. If they booted the people who stopped playing, this would have been over a long time ago...and in a much more dignified manner - finished by people who actually wanted to play the game until they could endure no moar.
As it is I've invested so much time in it I want to see how far I can go. Halo 2, I will miss you, but no one can say I didn't spend a lot of time with you at the end :)

No, he hasn't. His Xbox ran idle for 8 hours, and he did not make an excellent point. Even so, this isn't about Crazy playing, it's about everyone that's just idling.

Someone's been doing research. Thanks for the support, Braino. :)
You see, Horse? I've stated that I've been doing the same thing that you've complimented another for, and yet you tried to prove me wrong? There's even a link now so you can get there faster now.

That's the number one point I've been trying to make.

I mean, I guess if it weren't for the idlers, honest players like yourself wouldn't have anyone to play against, but even still, it really would've been much nicer.

8 hours? Try 4. I need to get to sleep too, and when I got back on, I started up again. Because I wanted the option to play the game some more. I wanted to stay up all night playing it, but I had to go to bed.
And where's your points? I'm still waiting.

Ah, there it is at the bottom...missed the gap the first time. Now I know you're just talking about me...kinda.

I'm currently inbetween right now...I'm searching in matchmaking, but havn't had a game start in quite awhile...
Hmm...what do you think? Is searching in matchmaking forever being idle? I'd like to know your judgement...

Dude, it's not our intention to keep it alive, so to say.
What's wrong with continuing to play a game i enjoy?
Are you saying that we should stop playing it because everyone else had to?

Also, seriously?
This is, frankly, a magical moment where the community is enjoying spending their last moments with a game they can hold true to them. Halo 2 got me into online console gaming, and I'm not about to quit, with the knowledge I won't be able to sign back in, just because the service has been discontinued.
I've paid for xbl, and i'm reaping the rewards of my money.

This is the most fun i've had on xbl in a long time.

Keep on slaying everyone!

Honestly I was hoping that the number would slowly drop, as people were removed, or went to bed, eventually leaving enough people for one last super duper awesome BTB or even Rumble Pit. But I didn't take idlers into account. Now I'll just be able to tell people I played Halo for 24 hours straight...which is exciting...I guess. I mean it's super nerdy but also epic. That's a feat of endurance not many could handle...
I'm just sad because after I'm done, there will be no more Halo 2. And I have tried to play it in the past, but there were never enough people to make it worthwhile and the quitting was unbearable. At least now no one is quitting ;)

Searching in matchmaking as long as you intend to play that match is totally fine.

I'm not specifically talking about you, but I am saying that you have to let it go sometime. If you have to get off, that should be it, not, "I'll just get back on later and play some more"

You've got the wrong mindset about this. It's more about growing up and saying goodbye.
