My favorite Halo 2 memory is from the build up to the release date. I had worked at an unnamed evil game retailer for the first few years of Xbox's existence, but moved away to college before Halo 2. I came back into town just to play in a free-for-all tournament, the prize for which was a Collectors Edition copy of Halo 2. I felt somewhat guilty that only about a dozen 10-13 year old kids showed up and I, the 22 year old college student, crushed them for the grand prize. (On a side note: after years of listening to 10-13 years old's call me a noob and hump my lifeless body, I don't feel so bad anymore.)
The only hitch in claiming my prize was that if my college football team made it into the playoffs (D II), I would have practice on release day and not make it back to pick up my game. So I found myself secretly hoping that we would lose so I could fully enjoy such a big day. We lost, I kind of won, and attended an all-night lan-party to celebrate. It's both a proud and shameful moment in my gaming career.

Then there are the people who poop in the mash potatoes. Those people get launched out on their asses.

The game was not only great, it was historical on so many levels.

"Believe in yourself and create your own destiny. Don't fear Failure."

So those were Flood sea monkeys? Always wondered what those were. Let's see now most fondest memory (other than the playing the story and finding a ton of easter eggs) would be this:

My guests and I were playing on my old account, Sinraptor2 (I know dumb name but it's still precious to me), and we got a BTB Slayer game on Headlong. Well, almost instantly we lost all our teammates. It me and my two guests (my bro and my best friend). We lost but we left our mark. in the pregame lobby the opposing team was stunned saying, "We actually won!? Holy S*** we won!" Even though we were losers we knew we had done well. The final score of the game I believe was 98-100. We were the red team. It's our fondest memory. We did play one last time together before Halo 2 was lost to the the void. That made me really happy.

Now here's my bro's fondest memory. It was 1 v 1 on Terminal. We connected two Xboxs so there was no screen looking. I had the sniper down to the far end of the tracks were the Wraith spawns with the sniper rifle. For the longest time I could not find him. I was about to move and when I turned around -blam! shotgun facial. Then he proceeded to beat my body. I found out later that he had ninja'd his way to me from across the map and picked up the overshield on the way. Then he got right next to me and waited until I noticed him. That was a sad, embarrassing day for me xD

Bought the limited edition the day it came out and have loved every minute of my campaign playing and my limited MP action this week.

One of my favorite moments happened just a few weeks ago. I had landed on Delta Halo and was clearing out Covies for the Pelican landing when one of my marines ran up to a dead Jackal, emptied his SMG into it and yelled, "That was for Reach!"

So awesome! Thanks, Bungie!

Seeing those stats blows my mind. My favorite memory was a game called pistol death. It was one Beaver Creek where everywhere was a safe zone except behind red base. Only pistols and instant headshot kills. Holding that position on your own was tough but so much fun. Some friends and I are planning to connect some old xboxs so we can play it again.

This was really awesome. The 14th was really awesome. And congrats to the people still online! You're all super dedicated!

Halo 2
2004-2010
Games, friends, memories.

Thank you Bungie for this game. I spent 1/4 of my life on this one game. It introduced me to xbl. It introduced me to sooooooo many friends that I am still close with even today. It introduced me to my first love. Through the zombie games where nobody would ever switch teams, to the HOURS UPON HOURS spent on every map; glitching out of each one. Halo 2 was and still is the best around. It sucks that I was forcefully removed in the afternoon on the 15, otherwise I would probably still be on it right now. HALO 2 WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!!!! -RIP Halo 2-

$9.99

That's pretty good for 2 hours of music without explosions and people yelling. I don't care if you steal it, but God does...

A great read. Thank you all who contributed.

^Champion.
My best Halo 2 memory? Easy. One bomb, Terminal, defense. The attacking team's Ghost had been really pestering us, and after a couple of tries, I stuck it. It exploded, and the resulting flying piece of debris killed two other enemies. It was almost too awesome.
There are those who thought this day would never come. What have they to say now?

no trust, no faith, no honesty in men

Halo 2 was the first video game I was good at. I played at a friend's house, and immediately went out and got an xbox (sold my gamecube). A year later, that same friend got live. I played at his house, and immediately went home and got xbox live. That was 9th grade.

4 years later, Halo 2 is still the best online gaming experience I have ever had. I miss all those custom games with a bunch of kids I would see in school the next day. I miss my other friends being young enough/having enough time to play every day. I am the only one of our 12 member clan that still plays somewhat regularly. People change, I guess, but not Halo 2.

I guess in some respects Halo 2 died for me only when my friends stopped playing, and I think I can bring her back to life every time I switch on split-screen with my roommate.

Halo 2 > Halo 3

R.I.P. Halo 2

I really wanted to play halo 2 until i was forced off the server but sadly my 360 is on my way back to me from getting repairs and my original xbox is long gone, but camped up at a buddys house and played while he wasn't home, then i logged off for a brief moment to go back to the dashboard only to find that i couldn't log back on, but boy did i have tons of memories with that game, from standing in line at midnight, to zombies, all the custom games where all we'd do was glitch until we explored the whole outside of the map, ive fallen asleep many times on halo 2, all the online friends I made, just so many good times, Halo 2 Impacted my life greatly, and ill never forget these times.

Earth will never be the same.

Would still be on but oh well, it was the most fun I have ever had on Halo 2 Live.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

3 people on my FR were in the last 50. I wish I could have been there.
