Subject: With all due respect

It's not a contest of who stays on the longest anymore, it's 50+ dedicated players trying to stay on until we're forcibly removed.

Yet some say they are starting to get bored and others say they really want to just be the last person. it seems as if most are just not enjoying Halo now.

'proper burial.'

Define "proper burial".

I'd say a proper burial for Halo 2 would be play the hell out of it until it's gone.

totally agree with plasma, but really, we are acting like a "human" has died, the game is not a he nor is it a she, its a disc, just stop giving it personification. yes halo 2 is the best game to hit xbox, and still will be in my heart but i don't see a point of trying to make it seem like the disc is a human. just how i see things

Yet you still personify it by not letting it go as if it WERE a human. You have to hold onto it as long as you possibly can.
It seems as if you are acting as if this is the death of a human.

Let Halo 2 go in peace!
Enough bickering.
It's had too long of a run.

I'm not the one who is acting like those who continue to play it at this time are bringing it some type of shame or taking away its dignity. Choosing whether to cut off life support for someone/something is a moral decision. Playing Halo 2 isn't. Treating "keeping Halo 2 alive" as a moral dilemma is a greater personification that playing it until it's gone.

Those playing Halo 2 are not in denial that it's going to shut down. They're not having trouble letting go. They just enjoy the game and want to get the last moments out of it while they can. They're not playing with the false hope that "hay, if i r k33p pl@yin, hal0 2 r not di3 n i r can pl@i 4evur!!"

  • 04.16.2010 4:03 PM PDT

dude really again the game doesnt have a mind of its own, like the player above me said " its 50 dedicated people playing the last time they will possibly get to play the game they enjoy and love so", im not the one starting the arguement im just stating what i feel about people who keep saying let it go and stuff, how about you let it go and leave the rest of us to play our hearts out.

Edit: btw im talking about joe campbell

I don't see why people have turned this into an argument.

People have played this game more in two days than they probably have in a year.

I know I had such a good time with this game when I first got it.
I'll never forget that.

I'm just being realistic here, but if people are trying to start an argument. Then I'm out of it. This is stupid.

  • 04.16.2010 4:06 PM PDT

i agree it is stupid but tell me, how many people do you actually think you are convincing to get off of halo 2? no body wants to stop playing, they will play untill they are kicked off and to be honest thats fine by me, i totally agree with what your trying to do but its not going to get to anybody, sorry

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

What you have to ask is why people arnt doing it with the other xbox originals.

Theres a good reason people are keeping it alive, it may have turned into into a bit of a competition for who can last longest, but its the fact people can be assed staying up ungodly hours, risking destroying a £200 piece of kit just to get the last game which I think shows the true testiment to what halo 2 represents.
Just quiting and saying "yeah I'm done" without puting up a fight is a -blam!- way of sending off a game.

I honestly didn't understand what he was trying to get at.

A lot of people are playing Halo 2 because it's shutting down? Yeah, agreed...

The people left are only playing for long periods of time because it is shutting down? Yeah, also agreed... And these are bad things because...?...

it's dumb to play it for a long time after it's basically already shut down? No, I can't say it's dumb...I couldn't do it, though.

I don't understand what his point was.

what im trying to say is that to a certain extent i agree with the fact that people need to eventually stop playing this, and what i mean by this is that lots of people are staying up for long periods of time to continue to play the game we all know and love, and by the means of them continuing to play is great, it really shows how much the community actually cares about the # 1 xbox live game being shutdown, just let people go on with playing is the whole point im getting at, making threads apon new threads about "give it up/let it go" wont really get to those core dedicated players.

My GT is actually lockepyker - somehow I got linked with my g/f's tag...so that should answer your first question.
Since you're here, take time to visit my file share. I mean, I have beach grifball in there - and you know you want some of that . Thanks!
See you in the rumble pit!

Dude he's right. People just want to be the last man standing. Both of my last BTB games had 5 AFKs - once on my team, once on the other team. There's a word for that - BORING.

I hope they throw the switch and shut it down hard, all at once. Spare everyone the trouble.

Oh yes, I understand your point and agree. (Although, it is likely that "the time people need to stop playing" and "the time people will be forced to stop playing" may be equal.) I don't understand the OP's point. Yeah, he was trying to get some of those left to stop playing, but all he really said was "you should stop playing because it is silly."

Bungie should bust the banhammer out one last time then.

Halo 2 isn't "simply a memory". I play it all the time. On my PC.

no urk himself even said that he thinks the last remaining people that are still playing are great people so that would be pointless

But I'm sure AFKs would make him facepalm though. And I think he would agree that AFKs should not hinder the enjoyment of those left.

As do I, but it just isn't the same. :(

Besides, the Vista version has that weird spartan body seizure glitch whenever you ride in Warthogs. It does for me anyway.

I'm glad people are still pushing.
But, let's be realistic here.

If Halo 2 was not going to be shut down, none of you would be playing for 24+ hours straight.

So, yes, great job having enough time to stick through it all.
Please, let her go with dignity!

This "contest" has turned into the last person whose Xbox DOESN'T EXPLODE!

I wish I had the time, but I will admit, it's hard to say that when Halo 2 is simply a memory now.
Great run, but it is time to let her go.

This. I have a topic about it, but it's become ridden with idiots who think they're making sense.

People are beginning to care more about who is the last one online, then they care about the game itself.

Why stretch Halo 2 out until they're all tired and bored of it?

and whats wrong withsome compition to see who endured the longest. You will never get anywhere in life if you just give in.Believe me, theywouldnt have held on this long if thy didnt enjoy the game. I also think tht since the servers are being shut down that playing it until your bored of it is just the point. Get out of it what you can until it's over.

I agree, let the ole girl go peacefully.
But I hope the people doing this aren't just doing it to earn some special prize from bungie.

Yeah, go for it, you will never forget playing 24-36 hrs straight when H2 ended for Live. You will never have another chance either.

Metal, Gaming and Sport, Hells yeah

Firstly, going down with one hell of a fight

Secondly, suffering? not only can it not feel suffering, being non living and all, but if it was, suffering would definitely be the worst word to describe it

Thirdly, they're having fun on being last one on, and more importantly, fun playing the game
