Everyone should have been kicked 12:00 A.M. PST April 15th.

That's going out with a bang, like a city vanishing in nuclear hellfire in a split second of epic destruction.

Not this dieing a slow and miserable death from an insignificant treatable ailment that was entirely avoidable in an unforgiving environment without any hope of rescue, mercy, or survival. Halo 2 is not going out with a bang anymore, no, not even a whimper. Halo 2 is going out in a way that alienates all fans from having the opportunity to be there at the tultimate end of it all.

"Reach out with thy blades, and smite"

I agree with Steve.

However, I understand how much they all want to be the last player.

My name's Tyler B too, lol.

Steve as in me? My name is Steve, is there another Steve in this party. Do I know you from somewhere Falcon? Cause if I did, that would be awesome.

You do, I'm T7 Falcon. I did the obstacle course in the HUD tournament.

I agree they should have just pulled the plug on everyone at 12:00 PST or 12:05 max. As much as I love watching live streams I would have rather had it go out with a bang so we could all move on with our lives.

DAMN YOU BUNGIE MAKE A PATCH FOR THIS!

Lewis Belding: I got 18 people in my hotel! Where are they gonna go?
The Stranger: Out.

Yeah, I think it should have ended midnight on Wednesday too..and it would truly have ended with thousands of players going out with a last hurrah! But it didn't, so I can understand now why players are keeping it going...it's hard to let go...

But I think they should just agree to start leaving...it is getting a bit silly! If they all stay for another week, that's like leaving Halo 2 on life support....we should let it die with some dignity now...

You guys did well, and gave it a grand exit...but think about all the poor souls, probably including a lot of yourselves, that stayed up on Wednesday, took time of work or skipped school to battle away only to discover they were denied the last fight....you're making it harder for all of them...

I entirely agree. I'm sure for many of the players sticking it out, this may be the longest they have ever stayed online and the longest their xboxes have remained on.

Also, your patch suggestion made me chuckle.

@Flook:
That is true. Most of us wanted to be there at the end. The fact that most of us either had other more important matters to attend to of simply got kicked, having us sit back and watch a dozen individuals do what we could not kind of hurts.

Yeah, life isn't fair but, a game is not life. A game is simply a mode of entertainment developed commercially to satisfy the consumer and assist in the creation of income for the producers.

I think Bungie should be the one to pull the plug. If you have stuck around this much it would kill you to know you have the option the stay longer.

Yeah, while I agree it should've went out with a bang, seeing people treat Halo 2 as if it was their dying mother is kind of annoying.

Sure, at 12 AM it should've been done, hell, I was in an all Bungie.Net group and we even tied the game thinking it was over, but alas, it was not. But oh well, life moves on. For the people still playing, nothing against you guys, keep on playing the good game we all loved for years!

I agree with that actually, yeah......someone should just switch her off now...because the people that are left, maybe want to leave..but they'll want to be the last man standing too! So let them all be!

And if bungie can't do it, Microsoft should just make LIVE go down for a couple of minutes..then we can salute these guys, bury Halo 2 and have proper closure! :-)

The only thing that keeps getting me is the fact that new people keep signing in.

Earlier it was 15, it rose to 21, dropped to 14, and is now at 17.

Really? some people can still sign in. Ugh, just let her go or let us on.

  • 04.17.2010 3:56 AM PDT

I don't think the "idlers" should be kicked. People have to eat, sleep, work etc. as well as play Halo 2. Eventually everyone will be forcibly removed anyway...

either bungie employees are toying with us or idlers really do not count in the stat.

You are seriously underestimating the ability of some people to remain glued to their TV screens and to keep their boxes going.

Hell, they could stay in a party, sleep in shifts while rubber bands keep controllers active and eat in front of the TV. We all know that a bathroom break is routine and that it is not usually necessary to quit or log off.

Yeah, I don't think idle people count. But it could just be an accuracy problem.

I meant that people who are on but are not playing could easily be away eating or getting some sleep, but didn't sign out because they wouldn't be able to get back on.

No regrets

By this point the real players would have needed to do other things.

Without Idlers staying in and then playing again I seriously doubt there would be enough of a population to maintain the real players.

Bungie won't be doing that.

Someone will eventually. Quote from "One final effort" on the main page:
Someone emailed me to ask how we felt about the few players still hanging on to Halo 2 today - those who will remain active until they are forcibly removed . Easy question. They're awesome.
