Hello, fellow Halo fans! Not too long ago, a feature was added to the XBox LIVE Marketplace allowing the purchase and download of select original XBox games. So, an idea hit me. Why not add Halo 2 to this list? Or Bungie could release a Platinum Edition for the XBox 360. Think of all the new possibilities that could be achieved in doing so, with some new fixes/additions.
~Compatible friends list to communicate with players on different 360 games
~Remaster the campaign to allow online play and
~A remastered Multiplayer system (all maps would be included; bugs would be patched; faster to find a game; easier to mute people; new custom game options/new game types [zombies anyone?]; Community Playlist [games like Tower of Power or others from Team Carnage]; possibly new maps [Halo 1 remakes if nothing else]; etc, etc)
~Achievements
~While we would LOVE to keep them in custom games, superbounces and other glitches just don't belong in matchmaking... If it's not possible to have them only in custom games, just keep them.
~Many more possibilities (feel free to pitch your ideas)
Question and Answer:
Q). Why don't you just play Halo 3/ODST/Reach?
A). Reach isn't out yet, we don't know if it will be a flop like ODST, okay like Halo 3, or a Classic like Halo 2.
While Halo 2 lacks great features such as Forge or Theater Mode, it contains a better selection of maps and better overall gameplay. Anyone can pick up a controller and play Halo 3, whereas Halo 2 took time to master.
Q). Why do we need this if we already own Halo 2?
A). Our matchmaking system is now gone. We cannot play what made the game so great in the first place. This is something most people want back.
Q). Why don't you just buy Halo 2: VISTA for the PC?
A). I own a gaming console, not a gaming computer. As good as Halo 2 is, it's not worth spending an extra thousand or so dollars for a new computer just to play one game for the PC. One should also take into consideration that I personally only purchased an XBox to play Halo 2 and a 360 only to play Halo 3. Let's look at some numbers, shall we? XBox: $300 - XBox 360: $400 - Halo 1: $30 - Halo 2: $30 - Halo 3: $60 - Halo Wars: $70 - Halo 3: ODST $60 = $950 + 6% sales tax = $1,007. Why on Earth would I want to spend an additional $1,000 when I have already done so for one game series? I'd be happy to throw in an additional $63.60, but not $1,000.
Q). Why should Bungie waste time and resources making this with Halo: Reach on the way?
A). Halo 2 has a strong and loyal fanbase. This would provide Bungie something to work on after the bugs have been tweaked out of Reach. If I recall correctly from the Legendary Map Pack interview, that only took 3 people to make, so that should not be a problem down the line with Reach map packs.
Q). amg halo 3 r teh best geam evar and halo 2 r teh suc-blam!- y dont u play a reel gaem
A). Halo 2 is a better overall game when you weigh in both the time period each game was made in AND how fun the game actually is. Sure, Halo 3 has some nice fancy features like Forge and Theater, but it's not even a comparison to how much fun Halo 2 is.
More coming soon...
