What if...and I'm going out on a limb here...but what if Microsoft launches Xbox 2 with Halo 2 on August 24. Now before you go crazy, think about it and it makes a lot of sense. Here's why:
- Microsoft lost a lot of money when the first Xbox was released because most people had already purchased PS2s and Gamecubes. They could *hugely* make up for that loss by releasing a next-generation console an entire year before its scheduled to come out.
- Halo became an immensly popular game because it was originally released with the first Xbox. It would only make sense that Microsoft and Bungie would want to both boost their sales by releasing their products together with the Xbox 2.
- Halo 2 would be the first-ever Xbox 2 game and would therefore recieve even greater sales, even after Halo 2 was no longer being sold with the Xbox 2.
- Bungie would look great releasing their game early when the two other most anticipated games (Half-Life 2 and Doom 3) have pushed back their release dates farther and farther and farther...
- Halo 2's scheduled release date, November 9, 2004 (11-09-04) adds up to 24. Coincidence?
- Microsoft's first major technological wonder, Windows 95, was also released on August 24. Again, I say, coincidence?
Let me know what you think!
