In the past, when retailers have released premature data about a release date for HALO 2(lik earlier this year) Bungie has been quick to eliminate any such promise. They reply officially and give a release date themselves, through the press as well.
Now, with much bigger rumors going around about ILB, Bungie has stayed silent. It has been weeks since ILB hit the "underground" scene, and as it moves up into media and even TV coverage, there has been no response by the company. No official press release, no post on their site, no mention in the news, no offhand denial or approval of ILB. Even in the most recent Weekly update, Frankie whines about another long trip (like working at Bungie is such a drag) and there is still no mention to quell the hype and rumors.
So there is no denial, and no affirmation; no recognition official or otherwise from anyone connected with the company! Bungie has put out their little fires fast before, but they're letting this one burn? illogical. It does not follow in the behavioral pattern of the company to be silent about these kinds of rumors. So where does this leave us?

Elaborate

They wont say anything cause they would then have to admit the connection of ilovebees to halo 2, and that would ruin the whole "mystery" of it. (or something to that effect)

Now would you peeps stop posting this same thing which has been answered at least 50 times. Read the other posts before posting plz. I'm not going to go through all the facts that show how wrong you are or aren't, because that will just make this post last. I am tired or people saying the same old same old so I am not going to make one more post here because it would only serve to support this thread.

Bungie's Silence only sparks more suspicion, but maybe thats what they want. They got everyone so confused with the ILB crap that our eyes have been blinded from the tru7h with whats really going on... If this is bungie's true goal then they have certainly done one hell of a job

There are 3 ways that the public will learn of the bungie conspiracy and the true meaning to Aug. 24th
1. Wait until Aug. 24th
2. An insider leaks (not real damn likely)
3. Someone crazy enough to brake into bungie and risk their life to find out

I for one would rather just wait and be surprised.... I'd rather wait to open a present at christmas then hunt around for it, find out what it is, and know what im getting on the special day (August 24th) ..... lol

Plus the silence could also mean that bungie has been working extra hard on the game to push for something big thats coming up... i.e. an early release date?

Yeah I Guess So

This Is Actually Getting Exciting
Becuase We Don't Know If There's An Early Relase Or Not And That HALO 2 Will Be The Game Of The Century. They Must Be Working Extra Hard On Halo 2 To Have Created All This Buzz About ILB And Such.

Bungie didn't say anything about the Enkindu Terminal either, and THAT turned out to be a fan-created site/hoax.
This isn't the first time something like this has prompted a silence from Bungie.

Another thing that bugs me is they are saying its crunch time. To me its a little early for crunch time. I hope they aren't hurrying and doing a crap job just to get the game done.

Bungie has worked 3 years on the -blam- game, there's no way they'll half-ass anything now. They've invested too much time and effort to risk screwing it up, yet the time factor also risks a loss of interest. Bam! there you have it, ILB. This will keep people talking the 3 months (or 1 month) until the game is released. Their silence is to keep people guessing. They won't deny something they created.

This aint a HOAX, for sure. Or then how did it appeared in the Halo 2 cinematic trailer?

I do believe that the ILB site is connected somehow to Bungie/Microsoft, But...
Just because Bungie is silent does not confirm that anything is going to happen, they could have just put it out there to spark more interest for Halo 2, or keep the hardcore fans busy.

Even if Bungie/Microsoft is the creator of ILB does not mean it is anything more than just a backstory.

So Jim, are you saying you've seen media and/or t.v. coverage of this ILB thing, or that you're expecting to?
Just want to clarify, because if there's been t.v. coverage, I'm sure the details would interest everyone who's been following the phenomenon.
To elaborate on the topic, I'd ask you to remember the days before Halo. Bungie let loose some info on the game, but kept at least one very big secret (The Flood). Maybe they're just keeping more secrets this time. I'd rather be surprised when the game comes out than know all the things that are going to happen beforehand.

Bungie is saying nothing because if they said they weren't involved, people would raise holy hell. While on the other hand, they may not want to "reveal" anything until the right time for fear of giving away the surprise.

In other words, we don't have a damned clue.

G4techtv talked about it on Pulse. But they just said what was going on and how everything started and what people think will happen, stuff we allready know. They just let everyone know about it, atleast does that dont visit the forums.

What he's saying is that its grabbing some attention, gamespot has done an article about it and countless other game sites have done it. Websites have been created for the sole purpose of exploring the ILB crap. In terms of tv coverage, i dont believe it is to that point yet, but it is very possible, if it gets out that bungie is behind it, it would make a good story. Jim is just saying that its odd that bungie hasnt said anything with the GROWING coverage of the ILB conspiracy

Gamespot and some other gaimng sites are starting to report on the ILB issue, and there was some blurp on Pulse, or a gaming show/network (sorry, not sure what it is, people posted on it) on the ILB 'conspiracy' I'll see if i can find the name and date of the show. (EDIT:Show info in post above)

Also you are right, all the dates on ILB could be referring to in-game events, announcing ads, or simply the completion of the game rather than more extravagant theories. We'll just have to wait and see.

yeyeman, stinger, jim, thanks for the replies.
I don't have cable, so I don't see anything unless a major network picks up the story. I figured (after my first post) that by media you meant Gamespot and others (IGN, etc).
Thanks for the info.
