Don't procrastinate later! Do it NOW!

That would be a good idea, I just witnessed this whole spam attack.

A while ago, my group was spammed with around 28-30 pages of spam :/

This seems more like a suggestion that should be posted in The Septagon. It is meant for improving Bungie.net.

The system should have a program that detects when somone posts more than two topics in quick succesion.

The system then should direct a concentrated burst of electricity (From the Diablo Canyon Hydro plant in Central WA; roughly 1,000 volts) to the designated IP address; specifically, into the keyboard, with a break in the circuit directly beneath the 'F7' key.

The spammer begins a new topic... say, 'I PWNED BUNGIE' is the title. He begins typing, and places his right hand on the 'p' key and his left hand on the 'w' key (To type 'Pwned'), completing the circuit.

Quick, painful, and brutally efficient.

Edit: I've noticed that Yoozel is considering punishment for those who responded to spam. I apologize for any offense I may have caused in typing this post.

we don't really need them. the mods sorted that outburst out in about 5 minutes, and the system automatically locks any threads made by a blacklisted user, so no real problems there.

Well, I was thinking about it, and, a really good way to stop spam, would be to put in place a program, this program would automatically detect a certain member making a certain number of thrads with the same words, and ban him.

Any thoughts?

Edit: Thankyou Recon for not locking this thread.

Actually no. It said so in the 'moderator abuse' thread that threads of a blacklisted user are not automajically locked.

A good moderator is far more effective than 1,000 volts of electicity.

Thanks for proving that to us, Recon.

No it doesn't.

That was a lot of fast clicking. We then have to come back and delete.

Cleaning up can take a bit longer. But, once done, it is like they never existed.

This is my point exactly, this program, would free up alot of the mod's time, and allow them to ban other retards who dont spam, but still are doing retarded things, like that guy called "childxxxmolester" who was posting sick links all around the forums...

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

I’d personally like to see an automatic flood-stopper, I forget the technical name. But say, you can only post a new topic every seven minutes and if you tried to exceed that limit you are signed out of your Passport account, I do believe the old Bungie.net had a feature that prevented spam. In this age of twelve year olds and jerks, I think it’s a necessity.

oh, i was under the impression that the system did it, seeing as a thread that had nothing to do with my blacklisting a while ago was locked.

But the banning thing would have to ban the spammers I.P. address, or they could just preform a certain "cleaning" of their computer and get right back into it.

That would be flood control. Temple of The Screaming Electron has that. Of course, that would be indescriminate between new topics and replys.

Dude Templar what happened to your group? I just got back on and found that not only was I kicked out, but so was a TON of other people.

Well, the first day someone spammed a little over 10 pages on my forum, I was pissed like hell. One of my mods (Gaara of Sand) was generious enough to delete all those threads, which took him almost an hour. However, the next day another guy spammed 10 pages of "YOU'RE ALL FUKKED UP!!". It was an outrage.

Gaara of Sand talked about the situation on the Flood, and then I posted in that thread too explaining what happened. Well, later on as that thread continues to build up more and more replies, I notice another "Gold Templar II" excessively flaming. I was shocked, it had to be one of the guys that spammed my forum. I figured it was Twitch666. I thought he hacked my account, so I told Nosferatu about the situation and he later bans him. Then everyone on the Flood community complains about Twitch's "unfair" banning. I later learned that Twitch did not hack my account, but created one almost exactly identical to mine, therefore he was impersonating me, and as Nos explained, thats a bannable offence.

Several days go by and a few other guys start spamming my forum, although not to the extend of what the first two guys did. Eventually as a few more people spammed, the total number of pages in my forum peaks around 32-34 (I can't remember exactly how much) and only about 4 of those pages were non-spam threads. In total, like I said before, there was about 28-30 pages of spam, I wonder if this is a record.............

I could tell you a much more detailed story than that, but I'm too lazy to type it all, and it would most likely exceed the 10,000 character limit.
