I miss twitch, he was funny, and he liked hobos.

Ignoring something doesn't make it go away...

Yes, it does. If you ignore it then the spammers don't get the thing they're after - attention.

Plus ignoring it pushes it further back into the pages. When they spammed the flood the other night I just went to the second page and started posting in threads. The other threads cover up the spam and then the moderators clean it up. When some people posted in the threads it brought them back to the top. So not ignoring it makes it not go away.

I'm not against a post timer. I just wanted to point out the point that the users have more power in a community than they give themselves credit for.

Sometimes yes, but in a lot of cases of spammers on forums, no. They will just chuck a load of spam in and not bother to look at the result.

That's your experience?

That's a pretty good idea. But they would have to make sure everyone knew the rule. A lot of people cross-post, without knowing its against the rules.

I’d personally like to see an automatic flood-stopper, I forget the technical name. But say, you can only post a new topic every seven minutes and if you tried to exceed that limit you are signed out of your Passport account, I do believe the old Bungie.net had a feature that prevented spam. In this age of twelve year olds and jerks, I think it’s a necessity.

I don't think any user could honestly complain with being able to post a thread once every seven minutes or so. Couple with only being allowed to post anywhere, new thread or old, once every seventy seven seconds and you've got a nice anti-spam net. I doubt anyone ever needs to post quicker than that...

This sounds like the best idea so far.
