It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

From an normal persons point of view, I wont want to search this thread for links, id just not post.

I think many will have this problem and the threads will die.

The idea is very good; the things I really like are the brief descriptions, and that sticky-quality threads will last for much longer. Though, I'm not sure whether the open stickies should be abolished altogether, I'd like to see the "best" topic of the moment still pinned at the top. But I think there should be some cutoff point at which topics are removed from the Recommended Topics list, users may not wish to scroll down through lots of different links and new quality threads may not receive the amount of attention they deserve.

There should still be some stickyed threads. like maybe the most popular can still be given a chance.

I like it, makes the forum look very neat. Using the Mafia game thread as an example it doesn't look like by bumping it to the top it’s not getting any more post then normal. But that is a bad example because if you’re not in the game there’s no reason for you to post. I like the idea of having a combination of both kinds of sticky’s. Like the most popular 1 or 2 would get there own sticky or whatever is "it" at the time would get a sticky.

The one thing I don't like is the new windows that get opened by clicking on the links.

I've decided that this new form of sticky is less effective. I felt more inclined to read the threads when they were stickied, now I don't even see or care about them.

If every ninja replies, they can each have their own, personal post for their favorite threads.

  • 08.08.2005 12:53 PM PDT

that works too.

..Can you at least re sticky the mafia game? I had to look through 4 pages to find it... of course now that I replied it's on page 1. It's just that it's so active and the players like me need to keep track of it. I don't think it doesn't work that way for the other sticky's, but since you don't want such a clutter... There's my 2 cents.

It's not really been "un-stickied". Just stickied in a different place.

It's just now in a larger and (hopefully) more helpful page of links. You can find the links to the old sticky threads (and new ones too) in the thread at the top of the page entitled Ninja-Recommended Threads (check it out).

They're not gone, just changed in a way that will allow us to recognize and highlight even more good threads (like the Mafia thread that you like) without having page one be nothing but sticky topics.

Oh, ok then. I was going to post something else, but so you know, it's the exact same as that, but I was thinking not as a thread, just a page. Thanks!

Pro - I like having more space on the front page.
Con - I'm too lazy to go into one thread to find another.

IThis is not here.

Some people are too lazy but in the other hand you a have me;a non lazy member and i hope other people will keep the threads alive.

Suggestion:You should make the top three threads stickies like ''the top three of the week'' or something.
