Do you want your map considered for Halo: Reach matchmaking? Does it support MM gametypes? Send off an email to cartographers@bungie.org or PM me a link and description to your map for submission to the Community Cartographers. I may respond to you for updates to your map, so be sure to be open for communication and critique.
Hi /r/halo on Reddit!
This is starting to get to me, and a few other people I've been matching up with. I'm not going to name names on either side but... yeah. I know we're becoming something of a overnight close-knit community, so...
Why are we wasting time with Zombies, Tremors, and gametypes like "Sit Out"? I sigh every time I join a custom and it turns out to be unlimited score and unlimited time, and the host never wants to end it (even though they are up like 20-1). We'll have plenty of time for gametypes like Zombies and so on over XBC or XLink Kai or Halo 2 Vista. It ties up everyone in a custom who just want to get games recorded, when matchmaking is the thing that is going to be going away forever.
It's not that I hate customs either. I switch to customs once we drop below the amount of people when it's possible to get any matchmaking done. But at least all the customs have a definable end in either time limit or score. Or they're matchmaking gametypes that people just want to play (like 1 Bomb Ivory Tower, etC). Not games that can take up to an hour or two to finish, especially with the possibility of being suddenly disconnected hanging over our heads.
Plus those endless games aren't even being recorded because it ends up with more than 50% of the people leaving (Halo 2 refuses to upload games that have 50% or more participants leave).
Feel free to disagree and debate this, but I'd rather when there's a 12-16 man party up and running, that the party would go in BTB and just keep playing games instead of playing endless custom games that just make everyone burn out and idle even more, and prevents people from getting matches in Rumble Pit.
tl;dr We have plenty of time for 3 hour CTF and Zombies in the afterlife, we should be using the time we have to continue to play the one thing we can't after H2 is forcibly taken down, which is matchmaking.
That's just my two cents, and those who would rather be playing games that we won't be able to once H2 bites the dust can feel free to invite me to their lobbies when they need a slot filled.
