For me, i made my XBL account when halo2 came out, that very day, and although it has changed a bit, i play Halo wars online now,it was still the main reason i play on xbox live up until the day it went offline.

Live will never be the same and that is a shame! The game that made XBL what it was is now gone and i dont think it can be replaced by anything, the corner stone is now gone and I personally will be looking for what the PS4 (when it comes out) has to offer and comparing that to XBL because right now XBL doesn't have the market place for great online games on there service anymore.

What is your guys stories, did you get XBL the same day halo2 came out?

Well, I only started playing Halo 2 about a year before Halo 3 but it was one of the main reasons I even have Live to this day.

I want her...

Nope..as soon as xbox live was announced for the original xbox i wanted it...but unfortunatly i had to wait quite awhile to have internet that could support it...

H2 was the reason I got XBL to begin with, now that I have had it for more than 5 years I couldn't imagine not having it. Halo 2 brought me in, now XBL as a whole keeps me around.

I played a bit of Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge before Halo 2 dropped, but Halo 2 was the main reason I got Live.

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was the middle of August 2005 and my friend and his wife had moved back into his parents house right down the street from me. I went over there to hang out and he was playing halo 2 on xbox live the next day I ran out and bought a xbox and Halo 2. From there on out we were playing all day and night for 2 years.

It's "Gashnor", not "Gashner", there's an O in there.

When I bought my Xbox 360, I used that as an opportunity to finally play Halo 2 online. I had played at a friend's house before, but Halo 2 was my main reason for buying a 360 since I could get XBL without needing a Credit Card (bought my 360 when I was 16 in 2005)

Starting playing Halo 2 in 2004. Actually got it at the midnight release way back at Gamestop.

Halo 2 was my first xbox live game, and it was the day I signed up for xbox live.

Halo 2 for Life!

B33S - you liked that game (Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge), dude that game was terrible lol. I played it a few times but it was kind of boring/cartooney. But it attests to the online game quality on XBL before halo2, it was like night and day. I personally think XBL fails or has the hardest time in history in being established, without halo2, kind of like how playstation 2 online experience was like (basic, without texture, and bland). Halo2 brought me away from computer games and changed my gaming experience to the console experience. Without it i would still be playing on my computer, probably WoW or WC3, or command and conquer (and XBL wouldn't have ever come into my mind at all). Also, i played basically no other online game other than halo2 the last 5 years (a bit of halo wars that is pretty much it, and a bit of H3).

That is why Halo2 is XBL and now that it's gone from XBL I am probably going to survey my gaming options and see which online experience will fit the bill of the funnest experience (not the most competitive) and right now i dont see that in XBL right now and I dont see it happening for XBL in the near and mid term future. I'm not saying that they should change it, i'm just saying for me it's not the experience i'm looking for in a gaming community (I want to have fun, quickly efficiently, and on a consistent bases)since halo2 is no longer apart of it.

H2 brought me in, kept me having fun for 5 years and no other game on XBL can do that... Games like that are hard to come by that give you a fun experience easily especially for an online experience. And so i will be in search of that game and a provider that can do it in a better way (that dont ditch their best game on their service) and i dont know if XBL can show me what i'm looking for and then provide it, they have alot of show but little online quality to me. So, i will be looking for a better online community and provider of online service and i might stay with XBL but I dont know if i can get over the fact they pulled the plug on the best game in the history of XBL the originator, the only, Bungies Halo 2.

RIP Halo 2

Halo 2 was the reason I joined. And a lack of good Halos on xbl is why I'm not getting xbl anymore.

"Other games made me join before halo2 came out"

Well, the term 'games' is inaccurate. It was just because of one game, Pandora Tomorrow, that I bought Live in the first place, but I didn't really get into it until Halo 2 came out.

99% of the HALO 2 gaming population doesn't have a hearing problem, if you're part of the 1% who does, post this in your sig.

Halo 2 was the reason I bought an Xbox and subscribed to Xbox Live.

March of 2005 I believe is when I started.

No. XBox live to me, was worth every game I have played on it, Midnight Club 3, Doom 3, Need For Speed, Juiced, ect.

Live will always be what it was, with our without the Xbox classic games, if anything, it will be better now that the old servers aren 't clogging the way preventing upgrades to the system.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Yes. Halo PC is why I built a gaming computer. Man, those were magical times. Too bad they're gone. Thanks MS.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

This.

When Halo 2 launched I immediately bought my brother's Xbox off of him and got a copy of Halo 2. From there it was a year to the day that I finally moved to a place that had internet capable of supporting Xbox Live.

Exactly 1 year after Halo 2 launched I played my first game of Halo 2 on Xbox Live in my mother's basement...thats right. I played Halo 2 in my mother's basement. I was 15 or 16 at the time, but that doesn't make it any less messed up. But Halo 2 was freakin worth being a pathetic nerd.
