Halo 1 & 2 for PC

Subject: Halo 2 Vista Performance Issues (NEED HELP)

Here are my specs, first off:

GFX Card: Nvidia GeForce 8200
Processor:AMD Phenom(tm)8550 Triple-core Processor 2.20 GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System

I use Vista Home Premium.

I believe that these specs should make Halo 2 run butter smooth, unless there's something wrong with my specs, if anyone can catch it for me. I'm not as computer savvy as most people are here.

Bascially, the game runs horribly for some reason, with the game trying desperately to run the game (note it does RUN, but at a horrible pace) I just want to know if there's any way to improve performance for this game. I tried downgrading the display settings in the game and it barely helped, if at all.

Oh and I use a desktop, if that is important in helping me. I NEVER use laptops for gaming.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Those specs should make any game from that generation run butter smooth. But this is Halo 2 we're talking about; The worst port to ever "grace" the PC.

It's probably H2V being crap as usual. Maybe there's some miracle tweak that'll fix it, but there's really nothing wrong as far as your specs are concerned.

That's exactly what I thought! However, it runs like crap. What to do...what to do...?

The graphics card is not enough for this game.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

The Geforce 8200 is an integrated chipset on the motherboard. I don't know the specs, but I doubt that it's very powerful. You may want to consider getting a video card if you plan on playing a lot of game on that PC.

Given Halo 2's terrible graphics, it shouldn't have been necessary. I guess them's the breaks when developers don't know anything about graphics optimization.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I think that's called bump-mapping. Halo 2 drops quality in all other areas in exchange for smearing bump-mapping all over the place. RE5 people look like plastic figures, too! You can even get action figures in the game. :D
