Holy blam, that made me so goddamn excited. Luke Timmins is hilarious. The armor abilities seem natural, fun, and smart. They add a fourth element to the Halo battlefield cannon of Guns, 'Nades, and Melee. Just looking at the craziness of Jetpacks (see 0:26 and 4:02) gives me goosebumps. The customization in the game leads to pride in your character, rather than feelings of cheapness experienced from games like MW2. The weapon bloom just makes sense and looks nicely polished. The weapon additions are nicely spiced up, but nothing too crazy. I especially like the DMR, for a number of reasons. One, the quote "Everyone's totally destroying with the DMR in their hands. It's like they've got a Death Star in their hands." Two, the semi-auto setting will hopefully mean that the gun is more precision and less sweeping (in my opinion, the problem with the BR). Three, just 'cuz.
Okay, when you beat someone down, it says you pummeled them - Awesome. Also in that vein of thought, every action seems punchier, more visceral, more intense. Just because the guns in Halo aren't crazy and balance is the focus doesn't mean you won't feel like a badass every single time you 5 shot a mofo with a pistol. That intensity might also be due to the new gametypes, as every person in the press has commented on the frenetic pacing of games like Stockpile and Headhunter and Generator Defense.
On a random note, did anyone else catch the sound clip right at the end? Yeah, that's right. Bungie opened a can of whup-ass at 8:13.
