Stupid. I hate this bull-blam!- and the idiots that pay for it.
This reminds of Gears of War 2, where pre-ordered copies included a code for a gold gun.
It's absolutely shameful that Bungie would follow this course. Whether or not one has the money to spend on a different edition of the game should not give him some presumed in-game special trait.
If I hear two months from now that Bungie already included the first round of DLC on the Reach disc, I'll snap the disc in two, as I was all too happy to do with my Modern Warfare 2 disc upon hearing the same information.
Have fun with this one, fanboys.
I wouldn't completely blame Bungie for it, but Microsoft and the marketing team between them. After all, Microsoft owns the IP, and will try whatever they can to get the most money. I imagine there was some back and forth between Bungie and Microsoft to not screw us as much as possible, but I could be wrong on that.
I doubt there's hidden unlockable content within the CD that will need to be bought a few weeks after the game's released though. I highly doubt Bungie would be one of those companies.

Don't get me wrong bungie is great and all plus this is their last Halo game ever, but $149.99 is way out of my price range, although I'll probably buy it anyway even though I shouldn't. Although its just a test to see how much people are willing to pay for games so they can justify rasing the price of video games for future consoles down the road. Keep buying over priced games and guess what in a few years every new game that comes out will cost you $149.00.
Or... you know, it might be part of the cost to make those 10-pound, hand-painted statues. I'm pretty sure shipping cost factors into that pretty well too.
