The CMD's main weapons open fire, quickly reducing large sectors of the planet to unusable slag. Massive craters and debris are left behind, and the temperature of th atmosphere itself approaches combustion as the soldier frantically tries to come up with a plan to stop the ship. He remembers an override somewhere by the bridge, but he has to move fast, because Dolorous could still teleport him off the ship as he pleases. He resolves to shut down the AI and implant the seed program made by Dolorous before his demise into himself.
It was your mission, and now it falls to me...
He calculates his teleportation grid to the nearest possible exit point from the manual override, and flashes into action. Once in the bridge, he moves by instinct, first disabling command protocols, separating the AI's consciousness from ship control. He then retracts the seed program from the main database and uploads it into his suit.
Here goes nothing...
The ships weaponry instantly stops firing, and all is left silent once more. As soon as he placed the craft in a stable orbit, he contacted the remaining leadership of the planet and formally apologized for what happened.
I know it won't make up for what happened, but suffice it to say that it could have been worse. You will be under my protection until your cities are rebuilt and your empire stays intact. I'll have to hold you to the same standards my master once did, but other than that, you'll be free to chart your own course.
As he ended the transmission, he suddenly felt exhausted, and was barely able to force himself to his quarters before drifting off. He considered it odd, since he had never slept before, or not within his memory... When he awoke, he noticed something different about himself, though he couldn't put his finger on it.
He couldn't see it past his combat suit, but his eyes began to show the faintest glimmer within, like that of a dying star...
