Ok, I've been planning this since I first heard that Halo 2 had clan support. If I'm not wrong, some of you guys that like science-fiction must have read the Dune series written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, and so you'll know some stuff about the Sardaukar... They're the most badassed elite troops ever (after Spartan 2s) whose military training emphasized brutality and an almost suicidal scorn for their personal safety, and I thought it'd be cool to mix it into the Halo 2 multiplayer community. I'll make a brief explanation of a couple of my ideas, that are subject to change if some of you guys join this business.
We'll have grades in the Clan (possibly named the Sardaukar Clan, SDKR for short), each with the same importance in what taking decisions about the clan is referred to, but subtle differences in what combat is referred to. Just a bit different from the general idea of an army.
In the Dune books we've got 4 different ranks that I know about in the Sardaukar army that in our clan would be represented by 4 different colors assigned to Clan members, according to their combat and strategical abilities (that would be judged by the totality of the clan members at the given moment of a new incorporation to the clan) and the time they've spent in the Clan. The Sardaukar armor primary color would be black, as the books say, and the Sardaukar army graduations, from lowest to highest, are these:
- The lowest rank is the Immenbrech, I think the secondary color should be white. These would be designated if their combat skills are poor and they're new. As I stated before, you can ascend ranks in the Clan, so starting as an Immenbrech is not a problem at all.
- Levenbrech, whose secondary color could be yellow.
- Bashar, and his secondary color can be orange
- Burseg (although it'll be the highest here, in the "Prelude to Dune" triology there is a higher rank, the Supreme Bashar, but that guy would be like some kind of boss, and It's just not a good idea, too "Supreme") and the Burseg's secondary color would be a bright red.
The Clan's control chain would be this way: Bashars, the maximum authority in the battlefield (of course they're designated by the totality of the Clan's members after inspecting his combat and strategic abilities and the time he's been in the clan), can give orders to any other Clan member in online combat, except another Bashar, although if a Clan member with an inferior rank has spotted something that the Bashar has not, he has the responsability and the assignment of telling it to the Bashar. Bursegs would only receive orders from Bashars and would take part in planning the strategy to be carried out during combat, and giving orders to levenbrechs and immenbrechs (orders could be like "go grab the sniper rifle and give us cover if any *ssh*le pops outta that window" to a levenbrech that has good sniping abilities) and so on. Levenbrechs only give orders to immenbrechs, and immenbrechs are standard troops, they do their part of the job and, as stated above, if they see something that a higher ranked officer has not, they have the assignment of telling that officer. Of course, having a higher rank doesn't mean childish things like being the first to use a vehicle, or having priority in capturing the flag (like Frankie quoted that Spiderman said: a great power has a great responsibility), it's knowing how to approach an objective and how to obtain victory easily.
Well, this is my idea, I'm starting the Clan today, and I suppose that when we're enough we'll try and get a freewebs domain, or something like that, and start a web page in which we'll add any new ideas and finish some caracteristics. If you like it and want to be a part of it, cool, you already are, anyone can join, it doesn't depend on your abilities. If you don't like it, there's many other posts, LOL.
