What I would like to add though is... it seems that my download rate is unharmed, as all the action around me (all the other players) continue playing while I get the "connection error" graphic.
If the download rate isn't affected, then it's the upload rate. If the game "closes" when you try to play, then the modem isn't able to send your data to the server correctly.

Did anyone ever find a resolution to this problem? I have been running into the same sort of issues recently. I play pretty much exclusively on the Bungie CTF servers, and I never used to have a problem. Now I seem to be warping a lot more often, and also getting the bad connection box in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. I have noticed that there seem to be more players with a higher ping (over 200) than before, but if my ping is still showing at around 34 (my average), should I still get warping and the bad connection problem?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers.

Yet this doesn't happen with any other game or process I run...

how long has it been since you have reformatted and reinstalled 2000 (if ever)

WIndoze, espally xp, rots over time. the regstry gets errors, corruped folders and files fubar it up, and tons of other things go. I usually reformat and reinstall xp every 4-6 months.

I am having same major lag problems on all servers, especially the bungie ones. I do not think that it something that was installed. Every player on the server experiences the same thing. Today on Bungie 6, no pings were showing. One player speculated that the servers needed to be reset. In all the time that my husband and I have played, it has never been like this.

Same exact problem as described above. Computer and connection are perfect and I've gone through all the troubleshooting routes.

What I would like to add though is... it seems that my download rate is unharmed, as all the action around me (all the other players) continue playing while I get the "connection error" graphic.

I would describe the symptom as choppy, but NOT due to poor framerate. It's like... a minor warp in any one direction occurs every 1.5 to 2 seconds. I get the connection error graphic in the lower-right corner as well.

If I'm at a standstill, the game will not "Close down" but after attempting to play a little, I will always get "The game has closed down." (Which it actually has not.)

This problem does not occur with LAN games.

I am running the latest updates for just about ALL my software, including Windows.
Desperation bump... : )

does this lag happen with any other games? I'd recommend contacting your internet provider and ask them to test your connection. or downgrade to the settings you had before multiplayer started lagging. The same thing happens to me when another computer on my home network sucks up bandwidth. lag hopping, game closures, accuracy errors, and my personal favorite, the black screen of disconnect: [LINK]http://www.sonic84.com/halo/bigimages/comcast.jpg [/LINK]

Nope, it's not that easy. The connection is 100% fine. All other apps run fine, as previously stated.

Any solutions? Is there actual tech support anymore?

I don't have time right now to re- read the whole thread. so sorry if I restate the obvious. Do you have another PC you can test halo on? uninstall halo, and reinstall from you halo CD, and re-apply the updates, if you think an update is causing the slowdown, apply one, test halo, apply another, etc.... if all else fails, wipe your hard drive and start over with a fresh install of your OS, if it's a corrupt dll file or something, that'll fix it. gotta run!

This topic needs to stay in the light because after extensive searching this is the only place ive found people talk about this issue. I am having the EXACT same problem the topic creator and the others are having. I can tell you that it's not our ISP's, not a video card issue, and not a firewall problem. The only thing that makes sense out of this is that something collectively happened in the past few weeks to our systems that brought about this problem. And the only thing that could happen at the same time like that would be an update of some sort. This needs to be resolved, I do not want to resort to a clean sweep of my hard drive.

To recap:
- Constantly you will teleport around, and get the low connection signal, even though your ping is very low (my case the 30's)
- This is only an issue with Halo PC, no other application or game acts like the internet is slow or inconsistent.
- This happens only in multiplayer when you join a game, when hosting games everything works fine, even for the people in your game.
- It appears by all the reports to have happened a few weeks ago during a possible microsoft auto update.
- Uninstalling the game and Installing it again does not fix the problem.

I have just had to rebuild my system. I have installed everything and all recommended updates. And I too get this lag problem.

I have a low ping too, around 33.

I do get the warping, but more annoyingly is a problem of shooting someone point blank with a rocket and they walk away unharmed. And on other occasions you hit or get hit when the shot looks like it missed by a long way.

I have a Dedicated Server running on a server (not my PC) with a 10MB internet connection, so that isn't the problem.

Any good ideas are most welcome.

It is getting to the stage where I am considering closing down the server. I don't want to as it is very popular, but I can't see the point of trying to play with this lag.

And I have tried playing on other servers, often with the same results.
