"I'll tell you right now, if you ever see someone called ll wa1do ll... leave the game immediately. My friend knows him, I've been in his party a few times, do not mess with this guy. From what I've heard, he's the real deal. I also heard someone made a guy named Wa2do (similar to his name) and then he hacked that guy and boosted off his level." -From Minou on Bungie.net

Like OMG it is soo hard not to play other games on my xbox. Seriously if it was that hard to not play any xbox for 2 weeks you need help. And why didn't i keep playing? It's called letting stuff go, i don't try and drag things out. Everyone that was playing past 4/16 was doing it because they wanted to be "the last halo 2 player" so all the scrubs on here could praise their epic awesomeness of nothing.

Wow it is VERY sad that kids are STILL on Halo 2...get lives kids. Hope for those RRoD!

They don't have lives? Funny, here I thought they were still going about their daily business and only keeping Halo 2 alive for fun and as a tribute to a great game.

Boy do I feel stupid!

Calm down.
WE ALL are on a video game developer's forum, so the argument that NONE of us have lives is a valid one to make.

It's not a competition to be the last player. Sure, it would be really awesome to be known as the last Halo 2 player on XBL, but that's not why we're doing this.

I have a question about what your thoughts are that dragging out the life of Halo 2 could be delaying the Xbox updates that Microsoft had planned. The whole reason that Microsoft was discontinuing the original Xbox games was so that they could enhance the Xbox live backend to support new features, remove the 100 friend cap, etc. Since we don't know enough about the architecture of Xbox Live, I would assume that Microsoft can't start the upgrades until you guys finish your Halo 2 games. With proper ventilation, ISP reliability, etc, your games could go on indefinitely. I understand that you guys still have fun playing Halo 2 and respect your right to play it, but at what point will you guys quit so that MS can provide the enhancements for the remaining 20 million Xbox Live subscribers? I hope you don't take this comment too critically. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I do enjoy a nice RPG or getting on Xbox Live for some matchmaking on the weekends. And while I respect your love of the game, there are other ways for you to continue to play online from what I have seen. On the other hand, these Xbox Live enhancements could be delayed because you are holding on to your current Halo 2 session.

Don't worry about that, even if all of them were offline, Microsoft won't release an update until August.

Pushing the console update and updating the backend are two different things. Even if the update is coming in August, work still needs to be done on the servers before it gets pushed out.

The last standing Australian on Halo 2 after xbox v1 shutdown.

Jorge is hungarian or something like that (more than likely a new race, that a lot of cultures were combined into)

I'm pretty sure it's down to a peer to peer situation. I don't think servers are involved at all. Matchmaking hasn't been a possibility in almost a week or so. The only connection is to live, since there are no more original xbox's online, it's fairly safe to sat that the servers are well and truly history.

If this were preventing an update, microsoft would find a way to kick them off.

You guys are awesome. I'm so glad that you're doing everything you can to keep what might be the best online multiplayer game of all time running. I applaud you, and play on!

  • 05.06.2010 7:10 PM PDT

You guys are HEROES!
Halo 2 was -blam!- awesome.
If they don't release halo 2 as a download, I will strangle Microsoft to death with the cordless phone of justice! Keep fighting the good fight!

All they would have to do is take XBL down for maintenance, you've seen it before... just drop XBL for 60 mins... problem solved for microsoft, bummer for the 4 of us.. POINTE FINALE (That's French!) Sooo quit you're b!tching, if they wanted us off they would get us off!

What time?

We definitely need to do this tonight, because there's a 5/10 chance I'm going to be hit by a tornado, which would mean bye bye Halo 2. :/
