It makes it even more epic if you consider that out of probably 8.5 million + gamers and several billion games played you were the last one standing.
Like a goddamned Spartan.

Make a mini-documentary.

So is there any video of our final days online anywhere, maybe from the streams or something? It'd be nice to see it again!

This topic actually made me cry, Halo 2 was a wonderful game and while I never had the chance to play olive I imagine it would of been awesome.

When we began to play Halo, we took an oath!
According to our station! All without exception!
On the blood of our fathers, on the blood of our sons, we swore to uphold the Seventh Column!
Even to our dying breath!
Those who would break this oath are heretics! Worthy of neither pity nor mercy!
We shall grind them into dust! Wipe them as excrement from our boots!
And continue our march to glorious salvation!

Think about it. You guys played the last online games Halo 2 ever hosted.

I wish I could have been in the same room as the last man when he disconnected.

I would have cried.

ll HackY ll

This is amazing. I wish I had heard of this.
Strangely enough, my Xbox has superpowers and never ever ever overheats and my connection has a backup battery that is supposed to last about 10 hours. I wish I had heard of this.

I made a bunch of videos from those days
you can find them HERE

Also @ totallymassive from last page.
I took a 3 month break from h2 when h3 came out.
other than that I've played it since I've had xbl.
2008-2010 were no exception.
just because you havent seen us doesnt mean we werent there, timezone differences etc also come into play. (I'm in Europe)
XYOX also played the entire time, I can vouch for that.

Halo 2 for Life!

... Well I played rumble pit about one game a day and 2 or 3 BTB games a day late night times usually (in the last two years).

But I did play alot on the weekends and never detected or recall your GT.

it is entirely possible I wouldn't have seen you if you played customs, double team, TS, or other games types.

It is strange that I don't recall seeing one person from that list though...

  • 05.30.2011 2:39 AM PDT

yeah I didnt know anyone from there besides xyox and tanker.
Maybe matchmaking had some weird magic that kept us apart.
I only had a few one months so this GT should show continued play through to 2010.

I played 1v1 cutoms mostly tho, because at european hours matchmaking was more dead in 09 than after server shutdown with just 30 people left. Only late night people would come online (like afternoon time US) and I could play rumble pit.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies
March 3, 2553

Spartan till the end. Amen.

Im lost for words really, really wish i coulda been apart of it. I rarely turn my xbox off anyway lol.

  • 06.15.2011 8:40 AM PDT

I loved Halo 2. We always played split screen because I didn't know how Xbox live worked at the time. Kinda wish we would have set it up though. I hear alot of my friends who did play online talk about how Halo 2 on live was the best Halo multiplayer to date. Kudos to the final players. That's pretty epic to keep the game running past its death sentence. Very Spartan like indeed. Yall sent it out with a bang.

Thanks for the videos Slater, it was great to see and hear everyone again.

I couldn't watch part 4 though!

  • 06.19.2011 5:51 AM PDT

It was awesome what you guys did, wish I had known that I could have just left my xbox on.

  • 06.21.2011 7:19 AM PDT

So what did you guys get? I remember reading that Bungie was going to give that last players something. It wasn't just the nameplate, was it?

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

I don't think anyone got anything from Bungie. I know the final... 20? people left online got early beta codes, thanks to the kindness of Gamesradar.com (Not that we were expecting anything, we just wanted to play some Halo 2.)

Edit: Now that I think of it, I think T0 Be Continued, and possibly a few more who did not get codes from Games Radar, got an early beta code from Bungie because she was part of the Final Few, but my memory is fuzzy. :/

#1 Legendary ODST Firefight Highscore

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

honestly this is quite touching. i just came to the sad realization that i never played halo 2 online(i didn't have broadband till Xbox 360).
Likewise.

This story is truly Inspirational, though. It brings back Memories of the hours on campaign and LAN games i spent. I would have sacrificed Reach Beta to be among such Legendary gamers in Halo 2 post-finale games. I only wish they would bring back Halo 2. However, the extended games on Halo 2 past its shutdown really is dedication. *Salutes to those Final Players*

Halo 2 for Life!

I think this pictures is about you

Here

tree sitting trying to keep it halo 2 alive.

It still is though on kai, so it also applies to us kai and connect players but I think the pic was made for those that stayed after the xbl shut down.

R.I.P. Halo 2 11/9/04-4/15/10
If you havn't played Halo 2 online than you are missing so much. Plus if you have played a good amount of Halo 2 online, I might have a better chance of listening to anything you say.

I shed a tear every time I look at the title of this thread. It really brings out the sadness in the situation. I was in the last 300. Really wish I made it into the last 50 like you guys did. I was showing my support by watching T0 be continued's live stream.

I got like 3 months of xbox live I think?
some of us received emails stating some -blam!- about us being cool, I dont remember very well but I've probably got it somewhere.

I still think about this once in a while

Yeah, you should think about it from time to time, I do and I wasn't even a part of the final few but I remember watching a lot of the streamers that hung in there. I remember Joe hanging in there to the very end, man that was an awesome once in a lifetime experience for all the final few.

Everybody who had an old live account got the free live and points reward.

Gamesradar gave us the codes which was nice of them. Used mine straight away. I probably could have left my xbox on and beat Apache, but by that time there were no games being played anymore so there was no point. Plus you have to look to the future as well, and that was Reach.

I still wonder why Bungie never gave us a shout-out. Although the guys over at Roosterteeth talked about us on their podcast which was cool because I've been a fan of Red vs Blue for years.

Yeah, that's why joe campbell stopped, he didn't get kicked, he just stopped because it was pointless. Besides, Apache was set up so he couldn't fail. All in all though, it was a special time and Bungie should have given a nod.
