Lewis Belding: I got 18 people in my hotel! Where are they gonna go?
The Stranger: Out.
Kudos, Dudes......
I've been swaying back and forth on whether you guys were doing the right thing keeping Halo 2 running, and immediately after the 15th I felt it should just be put to rest...
Partly because I felt that it should have went out with a bang at midnight, with hundreds of people playing and not left hanging on like a wounded puppy that you don't want to put down..
Partly because having stayed up for over 32 hours only for it to still be going on, I just wanted it to end...
Partly because I was miffed that I had logged out without knowing I could have been with you guys...
And then I realized that what you guys were doing was actually pretty awesome! I still had my doubts about some who might just be sitting it out and not even playing games, but for those who have battled on when they could, the praise and worship is truly justified! Like true Spartans, you fought on and refused to be moved by bigger forces....
You have survived far longer than most people would have anticipated...you have, by refusing to move and staying on for so long, given a fitting end to Halo 2 and indeed, the original LIVE...Also, it kinda sticks a finger up at Microsoft for getting rid of the service, and you've made even them notice the little guy..
So congratulations folks! Even being among the last 560 or so made me proud, so what you guys must feel like being the last two......
The Final Few are already legend, and deservedly so...you truly will go down in gaming history! But I ask, without stealing you guy's thunder, that people remember the others too..the hundreds of people who were there at midnight on the 15th, when we all gathered to see the end of the world and go out fighting/dancing/singing/crying or whatever....
We should all be proud of what was achieved at the end of Halo 2...it proved that people can put aside trash talk, and just get along and be part of a proper community, and that online gaming can truly be a wonderful thing..and that taking part in online battles, even with people you've never met, can create friendships and memories that will last a lifetime....
So good luck! Stick it out for as long as you can guys!! Lets see just how much fight this puppy's got....
;-)
*Apologies for the length of the post....but it's early morning here, and my thoughts are just spilling out onto the keyboard...*
