Holy crap, this is huge - 260MB

And then, of course, there's Halo: Custom Edition (fast shaders, new netcode, custom maps, 170MB). W0rtw0rtw0rt!

There is no new netcode........ We will need to lead forever.....Not a problem for me...

  • 04.30.2004 4:04 PM PDT

The netcode has some improvements. However, there are no fast shaders.

how are we going to download this? where can i get it? and whats the difference between halo CE and halo EK? i'm so confused?!?

  • 05.02.2004 12:14 PM PDT

OK. Custom Edition will be available from the Gearbox website, and I guess from HBO and b.net. Halo CE is the name of the new version of Halo that supports custom content, while Halo EK is the kit that allows you to create said content.

I think that Gearbox may have the slight advantage.

Question about HEK:

Will it only be for Multi-Player, the editing tools? Or, will us Single-Player types be able to create our own missions? Return To Castle Wolfenstein had these options, and has one heckuva' SP Mapping community... any chance of that happening here?

  • 05.04.2004 6:43 PM PDT

-S

Right now, the option for Single Player has been removed from Halo CE.

This doesn't mean that the HEK cannot be used for the creation of single player levels, however. The HEK is pretty much an "as is" product, and has not changed terribly from the version Bungie gave to Gearbox. However, at the moment, even if you build a single player level, you play it in Halo.
