No, it would not be an entirely new game. Remember, that coding is but one aspect (albeit an obviously critical one) of a game.
All of the story boarding, music, dialog, etc. is entirely done. Those are all aspects that take up a HUGE amount of time when creating a game.
It can be done, it is not creating a game from scratch like some people seem to think. With a little creativity they could even throw in a couple extra levels (say, the marine chapters in The Flood), XBL of course, and re-release it with the next xbox and Microsoft would make coin.Oh, FFS. The coding is the component that takes the most time, effort, and resources. If you have to re-code a game, you are essentially making a new game.
