Some1 suggested to me that i lead my shots and i find that they actually hits the person now. But i would like more info on how to master it. I know ping tells me how much i should look infront of them. But what if they r running straight at you? wat about if they r moving sideways>

These r very pressing matters to me

if they're running straight at you, you don't need to lead. If they are running straight at you, and are on a hill, then you need to aim farther down or up depending on which way their running. Sideways, you just aim farther ahead of the direction they're going.

It's relative man. the further away your target, the further you have to lead. Also, if you have bad ping, you have to lead more. if you want a hard measure, try leading one head width distance from the target and work around that. Watch where your bullets land. if they hit AHEAD of the target, try to lead less. If they land BEHIND the little masterchief in your screen, lead a little more.

You'll get better with practice.

Good luck

That's the most frustrating part of the game. I'm on one server and figure out the lag and start laying people down like the Grim Reaper. Go to another server and can't hit the broadside of a barnyard.

let me put it this way. throw a grenade. take note of the time between when the grenade is supposed to appear and when the grenade really appears. this is the time it takes for a bullet to actually appear after you pull the trigger. Aim far enough ahead so that the time your target takes to reach your crosshairs is the same as the time that it takes for the bullet to "appear".

just saying "aim x much ahead of your target" isn't good advice. Let's say you have a pistol. You need to aim farther ahead of your target when you are closer than if you are far away from your target. Up close, an enemy seems to move faster across the screen than when he's far away.

The net code wasn't gearboxes fault. They had super net code, but it was broadband only. Microsoft made them change it to include 56k.

Yes it's broadband.

To figure out how much you have to lead just spam bullets in front of someone till you can hear the beep and see their shield light up.

You have to lead with those guns too.

leading wasnt an accident, it was put into the game on purpose because of the accuracy of the keyboard and mouse.

i like lag, because it seperates the men from the boys, although its only really fair if its on a good dedicated where everyone has an even ping. (67-68 hopefull)

i wish they had incorporated leading into halo2, it makes it too easy to kill people.

for the thread starter, just practice leading in servers where you have a 67-68 ping, and then when you have 100 just move a little further out then that.

That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. How do you explain why the host doesn't have to lead shots?

Simply put Halo is the laggiest online game I ever played. It just doesn't seem like it was ever meant to be played online. It's as if little to nothing has changed in the netcode from a Xbox system link (LAN) game to the PC. IMO the best way to experience Halo multiplayer is to host your own game.

i don't feel guilty now when i say that idea is dumb too. Regular hosted games will eventually lead to -blam!-ing about the host 0 ping advantage. Dedicated servers give a better balance of lag for every player. They can be kept up 24/7 a lot easier than hosted games also.

well all i have to say on leading is that once you get the hang of it and know your average ping you willmost likely make a killer sniper. on the hosting thing that is bs we dont get the advantage. of course we do have better acuracy and everything but we still get lag and we still have to lead

melee lags just as much as bullets, so take that into account too. if a person is charging at you, you have to melee a little earlier than usual.
