We need member online indicator, this would make Spam and of topic posts much easier to deal with because instead of PMing a random ninja we could look which ninjas are on, then report the problem to an active ninja.

This would also help the chapters in that you could see which members of your chapter are online.

There is only one problem that I can see with implementing a system like this and that is spammers, they could wait till there are no ninjas are online to deal with there Spam.

I always thought a system to allow certain members use of an "alert moderator" button to submit a thread to a pool of sorts for perusal and investigation by all with mod status would be rather nice.

Oh and Fragmaster from Chorley, Fragula from Crawley... that's just some crazy on a stick right there.

Sir Fragula's idea is good. I would just be concerned with people pressing the button all the time just to get a mod to read their post.

...if there were no drunkards, we today, would have no hobos...and the world would be a boring place.

A list of the mods online would be nice. So would a "report to a moderator button" it would make reporting stuff much easier.

Well this hypothetical "alert mod" button of mine wouldn't be dished out to just everybody. A certain amount of trustworthiness would have to be demonstrated before a member was flagged able to use it.

Yeah, some people probably would abuse it.

I think (I know or do I?) Fragula was getting at the idea of a (secret, special) forum just for mods. Where, say we hit the "button" on some illegal thread and it gets sent to this forum. The mods review and decide. That’s just pure dead brilliant!

(And!) I think it’s a good idea, the whole on/off-line feature. There’s no harm in knowing who’s on and who’s off, just like that warm feeling you get before you land a plasma, nice =) (idea)

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I like that idea. If we knew which mods where on then the spam would get reported to them and taken care of fast.

Yeah that was the only problem that I could see with my idea the spammers would wait until there was no ninjas online and then Spam the hell out of the foums.

as for the "alert moderator" button also a good idea, although I think that it would be more difficult to apply.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

A few months ago bungie passed the one million member mark. That would be one hell of a long list.

I'm getting a vibe from the old skool 7th Column...and it says that it used to allow you to see members of that chapter online.

Well theres always PHPBB (for all you non-php people, thats a forum that runs on the oh so power full PHP). Its uses are endless, and mods for it go on and on. Its clean cut, wellbalanced, and a all around good idea. And to top it all off, its FREE! F R E E.

Like Fragula I have also been thinking of an "alert mod" button. When pressed, a message will be sent to an active mod with a link inside to the thread in question. Also (as it has been pointed out) people would abuse this. There could be two was to combat this sort of abuse:

* Allow everyone to have it. When pressed, the message to the mods will also contain the name of the member who pressed it. If the claim is false, the member gets an automatic blacklisting...no questions asked.

* Allow certain members to have it. Ya know, people who the mods can trust not to screw around with the limited power.

To my next point. The list of names of people who are on Bungie would be crazy. I think it would be better if there was status update in the members profile. If you would click on another members profile, somthing at the top could say Status: Online or Status: Offline.

That is what I meant, a list of people online would be crazy.
I think the "Status: Online/Offline" would be better on the posts above or below your avatar somewhere

Adding to the ideas, there should be a little scroll bar at the bottom of each forum and thread page to navigate to the different sections of the entire forum. That way you can jump from a thread in one forum to a thread list or a different forum in less time.
