So exactly what do each of the forum moderators do for a living, and which ones work for bungie....if the actual moderators would let in some info that'd be great...thanks

Um, you may find this thread useful:

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Forum moderators keep order in the forum. The lock spam threads, move misplaced threads, stick important threads and ban or blacklist those that violate the Code of Conduct or Terms of Use. Basically, they are the police force of Bungie.net. The only one that gets paid, however, if Shishka, and that is because he works a seperate job at Bungie. the other mods are just voulenteers.

Technically, I guess they all do work for Bungie (from home, in a way), though Shishka is the only one who actually gets paid to do so, or actually works at the Bungie offices.

Well, he isn't at Bungie Studios currently.

So, none of the moderators currently hold a job at Bungie, we are all just volunteers.

Most of our day jobs are as hired assassins. I, on the other hand, was created out of polyethylene, and came alive through the magic of Christmas. I was only allowed to become a real boy once I learned the virtue of not panicking in snailstorms. One day I was attacked by a murder of crows, and one of the wounds became septic. The next morning, in hospital I was caught in a particularly strong X-ray burst which irradiated the wound. When I came to several months later I found that I had developed superhuman strength! I now spend my nights fighting crime and my days dealing with the corruption within the public service.

Oh, and I work in a supermarket too, selling fruit and veg. Gee whiz!

I think if you look at this in the very technical light we are associates of Bungie Studios, we do a verity of things behind the scenes that would toss us into that category. I guess that kind’a makes us exempt from all Bungie Contests… what a rip.

Phrog pilots, reckless and free. We would strap into our birds, set the engines on fire, and leave these earthly bonds with a chorus of WHOP WHOP WHOP. Akin to beating your chest and howling in defiance at the rest of the world.

One, and only one, of those is correct.

...idk.....so what are all the pro's and cons to being a forum mod?

Cons:

* Stress
* Abuse
* No pay
* Exposure to 1337 speak far above RDI
* Little thanks from anyone
* Having to deal with people who jerk me around as politely as possible, what with that whole "you represent Bungie" thing
* The fact that I can't just ban everyone and be done with it

Pros:

Um. Now, let me think. Hmmm. Oh, I've got one - no, that's another con.

Here's one:

* Wicked cool Bungie.net staff t-shirt

Hmm. No, that's it.

Do you lot (the mods) ever get annoyed that you can’t honestly speak your mind especially when a troll posts. How do you restrain yourself from telling him to -blam!- off and never come back? This must be an integral part of the job and that’s why I ask.

If they were the type of person who would just go off on someone, they would not have been chosen to moderate the forums. You don't want someone who would get pissed off easily and might abuse power against a specific person. But remember, they are human and they make mistakes.

Well most of them are human.

Yup, we all know the hibernation habits of those purple hippos. But that would mean Sigma is not a human...

Unless, of course, he accidentally set the transmogrifier to purple hippo instead of drunken gorilla in an attempt to impersonate the webmaster.
