This thread is for all of the member who believe whole heartedly that a demo of halo2 being released on august 24th cannot be possible. although the argument that having a demo would spoil plot line is very valid, i have a possibility that may make sense, and even work off of that logic. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, THIS IS ONLY SPECULATION (please no flaming).
Imagine a demo of the single player game. You get to play the first level of the game, but here's the catch...it's really..chronologically the last event in the story line. with a dramatic ending...but no one knows how the events led up to his point. (if you are unsure of what i mean by that, take any Quinton Terrintino movie. All of his movie's time frames are out of order, but still piece together a great story. so now, imagine, that in Halo2 there could be the first level...played out as..say, some important character...like cortana or something has died (thats a cruddy example as it isn't very intriguing) and the players don't know how this happened. but the fact of the matter is, everyone after having played the demo, would want to know how this happened...thus form an economical point of view...everyone who already owns halo2 would want it even more..to find out the plot...and those who do not own halo2 would be even more intrigued and thus further persuaded to purchase the game.
Now look at it from the standpoint of OXM (official xbox magazine) who is owned by microsoft...and I'm fairly certain that microsoft has strong ties with bungie for the making of Halo2. I have no idea how many pre-orders of Halo2 have already been sold...but i'm guessing its a very high number, just going by the amount of articles of Halo2 that have been printed in previews OXM magazines, and going by the strong advertizing campaing that is being put into effect, like for example the leows theatres articles that have been posted in the forums, and also the advertizing campaign have been addressed in the weekly updates, several times. Anyways, my point being...alot of copies of Halo2 have been sold, this equals money for OXM if they release a demo of Halo2. To those members on this forum who say they would rather not spoil the game, I'm sure at least a small part of you is saying...well maybe I might be missing out on something big.
Well to sum up what I've said, it is possible to have a demo, it could possibly increase sales for Bungie, because of some cleverly thought out plot scheme, and marketing scheme and it could also mean big money for OXM because of an equally well thought out marketing sheme. I'd like to finish of this topic with a pole.
Since there have been so many problem with my the understanding of my concept, i will try to draw a diagram for easier understanding.
fig.1 Gaming line (the way the game will be played out)
1st. Massive event (and end of story) -------------------- 2nd. Events leading up to Massive event (and end of story)
fig.2 Time line (the actual way things happened in the story)
1st. Events leading up to Massive event (and end of story) -------------------- 2nd. Massive event (and end of story)and you kiss ur mother with that mouth
