patience. you can't expect loads of people to join your game 3 seconds after you start. Some servers go several hours before anyone joins.

Do you have a Website sponsoring the game? Are you well known online? Are you playing a game that fits a majority of the interest? Some ways to get people in your party.

From what I can tell there's more people playing the demo than the actual retail game.

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

A similar question: When starting a game, let's say 8 players, CTF, is it common practice to wait for at least 2 or 3 per side to spawn in before starting to go for the flag? Or do most people start going at it one-on-one?

it really depends on the players' personal preferences.

stunts servers seem to be popular. just make a gametype that has the following:

heavy weapons, infinite grenades
400% health + shields
teams, no auto-balance
make custom vehicles, put 4 for all vehicles for both teams, vehicle respawn off
friendly fire off

everyone that joins goes on one team, to prevent killing. You just blow up vehicles, do glitches, and other stuff. Be sure to do big maps, such as Death Island and Blood Gultch.

Question relating to this topic: how do you go about getting a server for Halo matches that don't stop even if you exit the game you made? This is an issue, as I make matches that no one seems to come to, and they end as I pull out (and I'm sure as heck not waiting in an empty map for hours for people to join).
