Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

After years of Halo PC, I still can't hit someone who is strafing left to right rapidly. I googled it.. tried to shoot roughly in the middle of their strafe pattern, but that hardly works. Tried leading less because they had only just moved, but that fails. Tried leading in the opposite direction of their current movement and that also failed! I can barely land a shot on these guys. One of the reasons I was stoked about Halo 2, where you often don't have to lead at all. Any ideas?

Strafing; No doubt, has become a major part in Halo. Not only for the Xbox and 360, but also for the PC. Strafing, is a sign of skill, if you have done it correctly.

However, this is not the point. I am a strafer. The best thing you can do is to strafe your best, and hopefully try your best to follow along with your crossfire. The better strafer; will win.

In your case, if you don't know how to strafe, please feel free to ask. I won't laugh like most idiots on the forums.

Something smells fishy...

I'm not exactly sure if I strafe properly or correctly. I believe strafing in Halo is moving side to side.

The odd thing about how the word strafe is used in gaming is that it really has nothing to do with propulsion. It has to do with the strafing of an area. For example: a military aircraft could strafe an airfield.

But getting back to Halo.
I think it's difficult to lead a targeted opponent simply because the opponent is trying to evade being targeted. That's one of the reasons why I enjoy Halo 1 PC. It takes a certain amount of skill, reflexes, and experience to play.

shoot slow and don't lead. shoot the edge of the strafe when he gets to it. those strafes are good to catch people off guard, but don't use it all the time because it's easy for some people to catch on.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Shoot really slow and keep your mouse extremely steady.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

New's got the right idea. Players lose their momentum a little bit at the end of a strafe before they start going the other way, making for a fairly predictable slowdown.

Thanks guys, I'll try these suggestions. It all seems to be about visualizing the lead, and the effects of lag to make the right shot.

It's so much easier when they run in a straight line. :(

Grenades are like RAM, you can never have too much

in halo 1 like the other dude said, wait for them to be at the edge of their strafe, then shoot wait till you see a pattern because most kids just tap ADADADADADADADADADA and are pretty perdictable, but i find in a server with 200+ ping, leading your shots by a foot, works quite well
