I'm just gonna start a new post because the old one is burried in the past. Here goes:
Firstly, good point to everyone who pointed out the XBOX games that already feature full ragdoll physics (Max Payne 2, Rainbow Six 3, something else that i forgot, etc.), so we know it's possible.
Secondly, someone else said that it would be best if they had a wide range of animaitons and then ragdoll would set in afterwards. That is exactly what they did in Halo one, and bless their souls, but it's kind of terrible.
Someone ELSE said that Ragdoll "just isn't Halo."To that, I can only say this: WHA!?
Still someone ELSE said this:
"I personally LIKE the pre-programmed death animations, and the flailing throught he air. it's more dynamic than just...falling...but nontheless a bit more comical than real ." I don't understand; How are pre-programmed, completely inflexible animations more dynamic than a physics engine?
Furry Goldfish says "...and with the improved polycount...", but the polycount is actually decreased from Halo. Unless if by improved you meant decreased. But if you did then it doesn't support your argument. But know i'm being picky...
And lastly, Furry Goldfish says this "... it would be less CPU intensive with 2D sprites for the fire, but that would look lame..."
Have you seen a SINGLE game that uses 3d fire? A single one? The best flamethrower i've seen is RtoCW's, and that was entirely made of sprites. Halo's flamethrower is all sprites. All the flames in Halo are sprites. Why do you think that it would be lame?
And I'm spent.

I would suggest that people not build theories revolving around animations when all they have to work with are screenshots.

But what do I know about these things? ;)

Exactly...that's what I was thinking.
