Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.
Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.
Yoyorast Island versions 1 and 2 are really amazing, despite some gameplay flaws. CMT Icy Swamps is dark and moody and seems lesser known. Medium sized. Most of the "huge" maps I've tried are uglier than snot, filled with big empty spaces and feature frustrating modified vehicle physics. Coldsnap is the one I see a lot of people playing. Great for messing around, not so fun for serious gameplay. Portent is beautiful and pretty good to play on, too. I also love different versions of Grove. Last but not least I would recommend No Remorse, a great little urban map that's fun with all game types except poor, neglected Race.
There are tons more maps I like, but these are the ones that spring immediately to mind.
