Okay, I've been reading here for a few days now, and I saw Flood speculation for Halo 2 in a few threads. My question is WHY would anyone want them back. I've never read any of the books on Halo, but I thought they, the Flood, were a one-time issue. I'm probably an odd man out here, but I thought Halo was absolutely beautiful until the Flood. From there, it just turned into Doom or something--wave of mutants rush you, you hold fire, and repeat until room's empty. Sure, they weren't as rudimentary as all that, but after multiple replays of the game, I noticed my enjoyment always dies when they show up, kinda like sex with no orgasm.

Well, not like sex at all, but about as disappointing as something that starts cool and grows increasingly lame can be.

I'm not big into stalking tidbits of info about games, usually, but I can't help whoring out to the occassional IGN/GameSpy/Gamespot articles on Halo 2. Anyway, I've not seen an "official" word on the Flood being in this game. Sooo, is this idle forum chatter or actual info Bungie's given fansites, like the Rockstar people who give certain things to fan forums but not the big gaming websites?

*Sits back with crossed fingers and hopes this isn't true*

Flood will be in the game for sure. EGM did an article on halo 2 and they said "Possibility of Flood returning 100%

If bungie puts the Flood in Halo 2, I think they'll make them... less boring. They've probably heard tons of complaints similar to yours, and they will probably listen.

That was insanely old, plus, I realyl dont think thats officail. But logicaly, they'll be in it, whether you play against them or not is a different question. (i.e. somehow Chief John sends a activated Halo to covenant home world or something). Halos were all made to destroy the Flood, right? (Yes i know it destroys sentiniel life, but in the long run, i mean) And if theres another Halo, chances are theres Flood.

I will have to agree with the first post... Flood were something that were a nice twist, but they got quite lame. I would hope they wouldn't make a return trip, even though they will.

Flood ruined most of the game for me.... Thats why the only level I think is even fun is Assault on the control room

I think its a little late to change that. But they will probably have the flood that is less "boring" this time around.

I personally loved the flood. It was a nice change of pace. The whole game up till that was cat and mouse. But the flood gave you some nice just blow everything away gameplay.

Then with both flood and covenent, it required you to regularly change tactics. It really made you feel like you were in the middle of a war at times.

Then I also liked that they gave the covenent a nice foil. It wasn't just always Covenent against you.

In halo 2 I hope the flood come back. I also would love to see the wreckage of the library or another one that maybe has sustained damage. It would make for some cool stuff.

Yeah the flood did get repetitive and annoying in Halo. But Halo 2 will probably add a few features to the flood. Like the new aliens they can infest and the new AI will probably give the flood some sort of boost. Even though I didn't want the flood to come back, it will still be a great game none the less.

Damn, now that's quick response time.

I wouldn't mind Flood being there (e.g. mentioning them, showing how they came to be, making them smarter, etc.). But anyhow, thanks. I guess I'll just have to grit and bear the little screwballs or hope, as one person put it, that they're spiced up and given some intelligence outside of wave attacks.

The flood were cool, up until it got repetative. I know a lot of halo is repetetive, but having a level where the flood, just keep on flooding and NEVER stop is a little annoying. It would be a lot better if the flood stopped comming at one point, because then you could kill them to try to get rid of them. When the monitor tells you to hold position, thats the only time that killing the flood isn't meaningless...all the other times its better to just clear a path and run.

As for the flood being in halo 2, thats fine with me as long as theres no endless respawn areas. And weren't all the flood on halo when it was destroyed anyway? I could definatly be wrong, but thats the impression I was under.
