Not to get off topic, but the way Human society is going down hill, and steadilly declining, there won't be much in the way of "virgin blood" left to give to the Covenant in the year 2552. Actually they may be half the problem. They see us as degenerates and true infidels.... which we are when you think about it. Humans are not all that great. If anything we are a stain in the galaxy. And what a better way to remove a stain then by burning it out.

It seems strange to me, that the Master Chief would jump on top of a Covenant cruiser like he did in the announcement trailer. It also seem strange that Cortana mentioned nothing about why he was jumping onto that ship, or anything about its shields or weapons.

What if the chief isn't jumping on that ship to destroy it at all. What if he's landing on it because that's the only way to get to it? After all, you see neither that ship nor the ship below it firing on Earth or the Master Chief's ship. They seem to be doing no more than floating above Earth.

Now the absence of aircraft in the landing/repair bay the Chief walks through could be another factor. Maybe he needs to get onto the Covenant ship, but he doesn't have a ride. His ship can't stop, so what the hell. Let's jump onto the Covenant ship. He 'lands' on it and they let him in. Who are they? The Elites or whoever that broke away from the Prophets.

Say that this side-story of Enkidu (Enkidu.Bungie.Org) is a legitimate Halo 2 side-story. Something could be discovered there that would make the entire alliance question the Prophet's ability and rule. The Flood itself gives us hints that assassination attempts have been made on the Covenant Homeworlds.

So the Elites and maybe their loyal followers have joined with us, or just some of the Covenant in general, and come to help us fight against this mislead crusade. I'm not sure though. All of the weak-link bonds holding the Covenant together seem doomed to snap sometime soon. I'm just wondering when they'll snap, and how heavy the weight on the chain really is.

Like i said a few posts ago, i have a presumed halo2 story line and it says that the covenant have come to earth looking for the controls to all the halos........

Walking toward the structure, Cortana tells you it appears to be empty or is at least masking the heat signatures of any inhabitants. You ask her how the Covenant could think humans were the creators of Halo. She believes it could be a ruse or that it could be something more complicated then anyone had ever imagined. As you and other Marines approach and enter the temple she explains that if the hologram was true and humans did create the Halo system then it must happen sometime in the future, not in the past. You ask how it’s possible for them to exist now if they're not even made yet and she says that in the future we may find out that they are the only way we can effectively destroy the Covenant, so we created them and send them back in time through some black hole phenomena or indepedent technology, waiting for thousands of years to be used, suspended in space throughout the galaxy. When we brought them to this time we had hoped to stop the Covenant before they began their conquest, but the Flood changed everything. She says there really isn't any other possibilty. You and the other Marines enter slowly into the darkness following the corridors deep into the structure, and Cortana continues in her rant. She goes on to say, if this theory is possible then it means that we should be able to uncover a way to end the threat that Halo poses back on Earth, since humans were the original builders of Halo. You ask where we would begin to look for such a place, and she says that if the Covenant are aware that humans made Halo maybe that's why they're attacking Earth now, to find it's secrets so they can solidify their ability to use the Halo weapon system.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inside the ship Cortana, you and the commanding officer are watching Halo split apart and fragment. She tells them the information that they have found and ask the command center on Earth if there are any areas that the Covenant are specifically concentrating on, perhaps even unpopulated. They say that there is one in particular, at the center of the Sahara Desert, the reasoning for which at this point their intelligence could not discern why. Cortana tells them that is where they need to go because somewhere hidden in the sand is the secret to the elimination of Halo as a threat, and the opportunity for humans to defend Earth.

_____________________________________________________________ ____________

Once inside you find yourself in a very sophisticated complex with technology that appears to mirror in large degree the Covenant’s. Cortana says that as you get deeper you should find the central control room according to the satellite imagery. There you should be able to take all Halos offline by just requesting it through the mainframes AI, but, she says, getting there is going to be a challenge system the structure is a literal labyrinth. You come in contact with continuous strands of Covenant Troops of all shapes and sizes as you make your way deep into the structure, traveling further and further down into the ground. After a long while the trek comes to a conclusion at the front of the control room, in a massive atrium-like room. There you wage battle with a great deal of the most powerful Covenant Troops, and when you have eliminated them all you can gain access to the control room.

Theres a lot more to the story than ive put up, these are just little chunks that i thought were appropriate. If you want to see the rest go to www.geocities.com/noir_hawk/ and click the link.

no covenant is turning against eachother or any -blam!- like that. the reinforcements are the spartans that survived (with the exception of kelly dr hasely took her away for some important mission and erased all of cortanas ability to bypass OLD oni security sounds like shes going to get the spartan 3s) but anywho the renforcements are the spartans and if your to stupid to relalize that then you shouldn't even be playing the game.there will be no covenant civil war that would ruin the game and bungie is smarter then that.

The covenant surely hasn't got such an obviuos weakness: even though there seems to be the muscle/brains duality within them, every conscious, capable of talking and using advanced technology organism, has somehow to aquire logical (and social) thinking.
The grunts are just ...grunts, and Elites are much more stronger, so what? Everyone of them has lived as an indipendent cilization before becoming part of the Covenant: infact each race could have been assimilated when living in a level of development similar to ours, now in the year 2004...

I think Bungie has already planned a surprise, like Chief's breaking-through the Outer Covenant Colonies defenses reaching even their Main World, where some plot-twisting revelation will explain the whole mistery...and this theological zeal.

Surely everyone noticed that in the "Making of Halo 2" video, Marcus Lehto says "..we really wanted it to feel like there was damage that existed from some battle that happened 900.000 (or so) years ago..".
Now, if that's referred to Earth, maybe somewhere some kind of artifact of extreme importance has been buried and a great war raged here to obtain the control (or whatever) of this thing...who knows? Maybe this is the reason they want Earth. Maybe they always knew where Earth is, only trying to destroy the Outer Colonies first...

for all of you who say that the Human race should seek alliance or even get alliance
tisk

The Covenant is at that time on the vurge of destroying the Human race so why change, it ell be your defeat for sure, if theres going to be one it ill be after their victory and still its possible it wont cause of the victory, which gives a united and invincible feeling to the Covenant.

Another point, Halo is a game so eventually the Human races will win, cause some people dont want to buy a game of which they already know there going to loose it. its true e.g. if you failed a mission you'll play it again untill youve succeeded so if the Human race would loose it would feel like the mission you cant win, which aint a nice feeling.

i rest my case...
for now

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

I just want to know a few things:

1.) Why is everyone so convinced there will be a civil war within the Covenant? Their alliance still seems too fragile and interdependent (-ant?). If one did break out, they'd lose to us, and their economy(-ies) and society(-ies) will fall, and will take a very long time to repair. Sure, in the future (after the war) there could be a civil war... but not in the Halo Timeline. I just think that the Covenant races need eachother too much to risk open war. They may hate eachother, but they won't do well without them for a very long time. Please read one of my very early posts (page 1 or 2) on how the Covenant would be affected by one of their own races defecting.

2.) Texas Ben..... What's all this stuff you are posting? Using "newb" as an insult in one post, and having another post that spams so horribly with the word, "Die" repeated. Don't do things like this. It makes you no better than the so-called "newbs."

And, obviously, I am back from the good old capital that is Washington DC.... good city.

you've got a point but HALO isnt like those other games... ther's a very deep plot to it, which is why there are actually books on it... it's totally possible for something like that to happen. Like all humanity being destroyed and MC somehow destroys all covenant by blowing up something for vengeance and since there would be nothing to lose.

...it's possible...

In the video, I'm pretty sure that the reinforcements cortana was referring to was only Master Chief. I don't think anyother spartans would be joining. I personally like the whole last of your kind, one man army thing. Also, I would hope the whole game isn't based on earth. When he said a war that was 900,000 years ago, I figured he meant, maybe a forunner installation that the flood had destroyed, or some other alien world. I highly doubt he was talking about some place on earth.

Anyway, back to the covenant, I really do not think they will break up. I'm not saying they won't, only Bungie knows that, I'm just saying that my guess is that they won't.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

She may have been refering to only the Chief, but there are other Spartans, so the "last of your kind" thing was killed with the release of First Strike.

And the game isn't based only on Earth. There will be Covenant ground (worlds and such) to fight on, which has been said, as well as fighting on the Moon, and probably another Halo (why else would they call it "Halo 2").

have you even read the ffall of reach?!? MC allready knows how to board a covie ship!!! and the elites arentt goinngto lett mmc in be cause yyouu fightt them laterr on earrth.

I've read all of the books multiple times, and if you read the Fall of Reach correctly, you'd know that the only way onto that ship would be at a gun emplacement. That ship was neither firing, nor were there glowing points to indicate guns ready to fire. He can't get onto a ship with shields.

As for why the Covenant would possibly side with humans. It's quite simple. If you know the Prophets are wrong, and there is the chance that humanity may not be the diabolical bastards you thought, what's the point? Who knows, you might even discover something about the Prophets that makes them the bad guys.

Personally, I doubt Bungie would let us side with the Covenant, I'm just speculating as to why we possibly could. Something is there though. Bungie wouldn't have put that much effort into making such a big deal out of all of the 'loose bonds' and 'deep-seeded hatred' amongst the Covenant for something not to happen there.

If the Covenant were to reject elites, as mentioned earlier on the first page, the work is already in progress. The Brutes are in prime position, valued by Prophets (Tartarus the Brute had a private meeting with a head prophet in FS) for their military capabilities. Has the beginning of the fall of the Elites already begun?

there wont be a civil war, is it to logical for some people to see?? i know halo has a deep plot thats the reason why im so intriged by it. but how sad as it is, its a game, a game with a deep plot. i havent read the books, but all points out that the Human could (could not would) loose, even the grunts can figure out their odds if they would cross, just like the other races, so the covenant (or parts of it)wont cross like you said Shai Hulud(im just repeating it cause they keep on going about the covenant breaking up).

i think its usefuller to talk about what the new races would do and what their effect will be, maybe even speculate about the story of Halo 2. but keep on going about the civil war is pointless just like the dude who said so about his live.

(filling my case, but not laying it down)

I am quite shocked that no one has thought that the Prophets my just be wanting to wage war with us becuase we are in fact very similar to the Forerunners. A thought on that anyone? Perhaps they think we are "an afont to the gods" because we are so similar and the Prophets don't want any of the other covies realising this and start worshiping us?

Also, i know this has been said many times but, the covies would not break up unless something really big happened such as the above.

We all know that bungie are quite capable of unexpected plot twists such as the flood, that 343 Guilty Spark was actually just using Master Chief and getting ready to stab him striaght in the back. i would not be surprised (well i would) if bungie had a really big plot twist in Halo 2 that the kept a complete secret.

(((Halo would be so cool if it was a game! shame its not really)))

Has no-one considered that the Prophets may be trying to assimilate us into the Covenant, I mean it's possible the Grunts and some other species were conquered then after their forerunner artefacts were taken, they then became part of the Covenant, So why not us?

It might be possible that like other worlds Earth has artefacts, it would bew interesting if some pyramids/atlantis type stuff was to appear, it's plausable to say that we are infidels because we control Earth (possible artifacts included) In the same way some modern terror organisations target Israel as it holds onto a part of Jerusalem.

As for "Civil wars" in the Covenant I dought it would happen, more likely an Insurrection i.e. A high Prophet or Elite leading a multi-special army against the rest of the Covenant, for whatever reason.
