hey i was able to get a full 16 player halo party goin but we noticed obvious amounts of lag. we had two tvs downstairs and two upstairs, with two 50' ethernet cables linking them to a netgear 10baseT 4 port hub. my question is is there any way to reduce the amount of lag (network or graphical)? do i need better networking gear? would defragging my xbox HD help at all? i'm despirate for smooth gameplay, so any advice is greatly appreciated

The only time I have problems with lag on a system link is when we have a good amount of people playing a FFA on a small level (we usually play prisoner). I think it's just the amount of information being processed (maybe the xbox isnt fast enough), but if we play team games on medium sized or big maps there is no lag at all. I think that it will always lag when there are 16 AR's being fired at the same time along with grenades being thrown in the smaller levels. I've never tried 16 people firing on a big level just becasue we aren't usually all shooting at eachother on blood gultch or sidewinder. But I experience lag all the time on prisoner and wizard when there are 16 players or even 10 players when they are all shooting.

It's your hub that is the problem. It isn't fast enough. Go buy yourself a switch.

i recommend either the Netgear RP614 or if you want wireless the Netgear WGR614.
