Me and a friend thought of this a while ago. A re-release of Halo: CE with Halo 2's live system installed would be nice. Similar to the way Team Ninja re-released Dead or Alive 2 with updated graphics and online play.
Although we don't even need to go for a full overhaul. I wouldn't mind if Bungie just brought out "Halo: Combat Evolved Online", which was just to use the original games source, then stick in Halo 2 optimatch code, and there you go! Bungie get to make a lot more money by re-releasing Halo again for 20 bucks a peice, and that's not very much work done. All they need to do is re-use two peices of code. And even if they aren't compatable, how long would it take to re-code a similar optimatch system? You already have the EXACT plan of what you're going to do.. But I'm sure there's issues in the programming that would cause latancy and stuff. I don't know. I'm only making assumptions there isn't. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people who would pay $20 to get a new disc with online multiplayer on it.
But this will not happen. I'm not even going to say there's a 99.9% chance of it not happening, because it's certainly not going to happen. Bungie are tied up creating the masterwork that will be Halo 3. Personally, I'd really rather not have them take time or resources away from that. By not having it a launch title, M$ have given Bungie so much more time to make Halo 3 brilliant. I'm sure it'll end up being rushed sooner to the deadline, but not being rushed with a launch title gives me extremely high hopes. Let's give them all the resources they can muster, yes?
