I know the Prophets are spiritual and political leaders of the covenant, and that they are physically weak, but does anyone know what they will do in-game? Do they direct the other races in battle? Will the covenant go crazy if you kill a prophet and charge at you or something like that? I think I heard somewhere that they were about as weak as grunts. If this is true then could a prophet pick up a gun and start shooting you if it REALLY had to?

Actually they kinda do, i read in the 7th column where they can make it look like they're surrounded by 100's of Covenant, when in reality they're alone, so they could scare the crap outta u that way

they are weak yes, but i believe their hover chair is a powerful weapon , if you look at it there are two triangular things which look like they can open to reveal a weapon on each end of the chair.

No it didnt. Thats a Brute. And it didnt actually say it could, it was just imagining it doing that because its really strong.

Yeah... I doubt that "rip apart a hunter" stuff... they are so lazy, it seems they just sit around in their little hover chair all day...

if you read the books the prophets are very powerful when it comes to physic abilities. They are highly guarded in their chambers

Heres the quote from First Strike. This is the Prophet thinking about the Brute.
The creature was a magnificent specimen of vicousness. The Phrophet marveled at its near-unthinking potential for mayhem; the rippling muscle under its dull gray skin could tear apart any oppenent --- even the mighty hunter. It was the perfect instrument.

in reply of maxxbasher: no they are not. Elites are the imperial bodyguard of prophets. read the book. if you have proof that brutes are theyre bodyguards post it. it says in the book that one of the elites have never seen a brute get so close to a prophet. why would he say that if a brute was his body guard. plus it says in the book elites are prophet bodyguards.

And where did it say the elite = bodyguard in the book?

Edit: Perhaps you should find proof too.

Maybe we should just look at it this way: all of the covenant are the prophets bodyguards.

Oh, and heres a quote showing that a Phrophet can control things with his mind (or something)
"Tell me what you found," the Prophet said, its voice now truly a whisper.
Without looking up Tartarus reached for its belt and the attached orb.
The Prophet flicked its claw at the container. It floated free from Tartarus's grasp and hovered.
Theres more, but that shows that the Prophet can somewhat control things with its mind (or with the flick of its claw)

Maybe it isn't psycic power... maybe it could be some covenant technology (or should I say forerunner).
