my suggestions:
1) talk in the form of sentences.
2) tell us what your new provider is and what speed you pay for
3) make sure you have the correct network settings selected in halo.

um... so you have a dial up connection to DSL......that's not how things work. eaither i need to clean my ears (a definate possibility), or you need to get your ISP straight. first off, if you have DSL, why use AOL at all? past version 6.0, AOL has put more spyware on your machine than any website in existance. seriously. that could be your problem. if you are using dial up (which i'm still not sure about) your bandwith is limited enough without all these random (spyware) programs stealing it away.
so ofcourse, do a spyware scan.
and explain you self a little more clearly.....

um...make sure you use an anti-spyware program OTHER than the one aol probably gave you (lemme guess, 9.0 security right? they're BLAMing that out like its the fourth of July.) Spyzapper is little mroe than a glorified pop-up blocker. I recommend going to http://www.lavasoftusa.com and downloading the Ad-aware SE freeware. They're very impartial when it comes to spyware. Translation: they kill it all.

My mother thought she was secure on her PC until I dled Ad-aware on a recent visit and ran a scan. I found 1284 spywares and malwares. Get it; it's free and you'll be glad you did.

And if you're one of the "lucky few" that has a legal version of windows, you can download Microsoft AntiSpyware (beta). I use it all the time and have had no problems with it (takes up only 12 MB of memory if you have the real-time protection on). Don't worry about the expiration date for MS anti-spyware, they either release an updated version of the beta, or they might release whatever comes after the beta stage. That and Ad-Aware are the best free anti-spyware apps out there. Another one called Counterspy from Sunbelt Software has a 95% removal rate. it costs $20.
