Yo people,

It's those strike team elites, they are hard, very hard, with two shots, they take down your sheild! JESUS CHRIST! Any way... what did you think when it came to the elites on legendary? Or what was complex bits that you found out about the game?

in my opinion legendary is hard mostly because the covenant are faster and you are slower thus the shields going down so fast and you dying faster. it is extremely hard to beat but extrememly gratifying when you do.

The hardest part i remember was after teleporting aboard the Truth and Reconciliation. *shivers* That was a brawl.

I agree Minus - I still haven't made it past that part....

No, I actually find that the regular elites behave more like the silver elites - same for the grunts. They are amazingly accurate with their nades and the throw them often. I truly fnd that a few things changed:

#1 Your sheilds go down quicker
#2 shots hurt more
#3 the AI is smarter
#4 you get less ammo
#5 the computer has more health

I really don't think the MC is slower or anything - I think it's more that the entire style of gameplay is different because the AI is smarter. I could breez through normal if you made my sheilds go down quickly, gave me less ammo, and toughened up the enemy, but making the enemy smarter throws off my entire style - you have to play very differently when you play on Legendary.

I've played Assualt on the control room enough times on legendary that I take glee in pwning an unsuspecting elite with his dead buddy's plasma rifle and making him scream like a grunt. Really the key to legendary is to ditch the AR for the Plasma Rifle, it takes down shields tons quicker.
Sneaking around and scoring stealth kills becomes an element in legendary too. I've got this one chamber down so I can actually assinate every covenant in it without a single alarm or shot made from any of them (cause it's nothing but sleeping grunts and two elites patrolling).
It's just a whole new experience if you're used to blowing through the levels on easy. To acually need to take cover and conserve ammo, that's the real challenge and it makes it all the more fun.

Am Inspire, if you’re having trouble with the grav lift scene, here’s my trick.

Go in with Sniper rifle, Plasma pistol and full nades all around. Fer goodness sake, don't worry about the marines; they often do more harm than good so let them die. Be ready to use your human nades first (they detonate faster) and keep your sound setting high, so you can “hear” which door opens. Most (if not all if you’re that unlucky) enemy spawn will have an elite in them. Lucky for you, they like to stop and have a look around first! Try to stay near the middle of the room for the first part and toss nades into the opening (don't wait for them to come in; hit them where they LIVE!) doors to keep back what’s supporting him (jackals or grunts) and unload your sniper rifle into his head. Rinse and repeat until you’re out of human nades. I can’t remember if it’s eight spawns or twelve till the door with the hunters unlocks (and I’ve never had the luxury to count), but when you finish off your frag nades (including the ones your unlucky marine buds bequeathed you), head for one of the doors you’ll have to go through to get to the next part of the level (you’ve played through on normal and heroic, so you know what I’m talking about) and if you can, grab the camo on the way. Now, you want to use your plasma pistol burst to keep the elites at bay and knock out their shields so the sniper can finish them easier. Watch your radar for any elites trying to sneak up through side tunnel, but mostly the attack comes from the gravity lift area. You can get a couple of mid range shots in while the camo lasts, but make sure your near the door so you have cover to fall back on. Then it’s just a matter of sniping the elites with plasma and sniper rifle from long range while they try to charge through the tunnel to get you. Save at least two rounds for the Hunters and you should be fine. If you're throw is up to it, you can sling plasmas on the elites and they'll still stop and roar stupidly at you until they die. Just don't wait till they're TOO close, eh?

PS: don’t be frugal with the plasma pistol either. You should have a ready supply of rearms from the jackals and grunts you wasted with your frags earlier.

Good Luck

wow, am i the only one who uses the pp+pistol combo? legengary became a breeze when i started doing that. and for T+R, i used pp/ar.
jump up on the wraith and wait for people to come it. if it's an invisible elite, introduce him to your rifle. if it's a goldie, use the pp to take out his shields, and ar to finish him off. ar is great for grunt work as well.
also, from the top of the wraith, you can easialy throw a nade twords any of the doors. just wait for your motion tracker to pick up enemy contacts, and chuck a nade at the respective door. it usualy works

I haven't played all the way through legendary on the PC vesion yet, but am extremely well versed in the legendary setting of the xbox version. No matter what version I am playing, I use different weapons in various situations on each level, but overall I agree with Iamwhie. The pistol/plasma pistol is the most effective combination and the reliable work horse that I always return to, at least during the first half of the game. It is highly effective against every type of Covenant you run into (well, the active camo elites are probably easier with some sort of assault rifle).

I have found that the plasma pistol is versatile enough to make the plasma rifle unnecessary (or at least less useful), since it has a high rate of fire, but also has the charge up ability.

I thought the Truth and Reconciliation was pretty easy. The hardest mission is absolutely the Library. Thats the only level I haven't beat on Legendary. The easiest mission... The Maw. That misssion is really short and the hardest part is when theres a three way battle going on with the Covenant and Hunters, the shielded Sentinals, and the Flood. But you can beat that part easily by going into the side room on the left when your in the maitenance access tunnels and going up to the glass safety door and when you crouch you can shoot through it. ;)

Yeah, I had prblems with the Library on legendary too. I suggest you run, when you can. Don't try to fight all the flood until the spawns stop coming, just blaze through with plasma pistol (faster cooling time than the rife and better aim) and shotty. If the flood try to chase you down (and they will) turn around and run backwards while you beat them with a shotgun barrage until they're far enough away not to be a threat or you reach the transition to the next segment. Then you can stop, pick off anyone who kept up with you, and reload while the checkpoint loads.

You can run through most of the game like this and avoid some of the hardest fights.

Yeah, I tend to fall back on the PP+pistol combo a lot in legendary. Even when I don't, I always try to keep one of the two in hand.

Yeah well ive probally beat it on legendary at least 2 times on PC and i got past probally(maybe) a few levels on xbox......i did NOT think it was that hard!!! Definitally a few good tips are as follows.

1. Avoid being seen if possible. On the level where you are trying to get to the control room, ive have sneaked though and assasinated anout 1/2 of that level...not that hard, just go to get the hang of it.

2. Get your dodging and aim down!!!!!

3. Always get some cover you can hide behind to recharge your shields. This has saved my butt many a time.

4. There are many levels like the Library, Truth and Reconsiliation, where you can just RUN through some parts, or jump down and skip entire sections!.....a trick i learned by myself! :)
One example of on T & R when you need to escape by a banshee and you are on the top level just dropp down on top of stuff till you get lower and lower and you can escape early!

5. Use good weapons......like the pp/ar or pp/pistol combos, conserve rocket and sniper ammo, etc. Also covanent weapons are plentiful so learn to use the pp well as well as the pr. Needlers are good against unsuspecting elites!!!

Well thats enough of this babble.....good luck!!!

i find you have to be pacient, shoot until your shields go down and then duck behind something, that takes a while but eventually you beat it, ;)

Well, despite what about eighty percent of the posts in this thread suggest, sometimes, the quickest way around things is to simply rush right through it with your fingers jammed down on the forward and the fire keys...

Some of the time, stealth will probably work, and so will the old duck-and-fire methods, but in the more chaotic levels, just running through as quick as you can while unloading everything you've got will probably help you more than other methods.

Trust me, it works. I've run through entire Legendary about two or three times.

Your not the only 1, id reccomend it it to any1, that pp is preety nifty against grunts too...
i used the pp and pistol combo, headshots galore people, oh and use as much cover as possible, and those frag nades are gr8 wen ur plasma rifle over heats, the splatter damge should clear em once u got em sprayed with plasma. Chuck nades at big groups (drrr) but seriously, nades are some thing people underestimate, they keep thinking that you only use them at the last second, but no...it legendry use em as much as possible, but wisely, i use plasy nades for big groubs of 1337s, and frags for finish offs.

Yo people,

Wow mittens! The Library, JESUS! Any way, there is a part on that, that is rediculously hard. There is a point where the Moniter goes of and tries to find the switch for the door to open whilst you are stuck in a room. And there is some cool music playing, but that is not the best part, the best part is where you get unlimited amounts of flood out of 2 holes! That must be the part you were stuck on, on legenday on the Library. Here 's the solution...

You can just sit out this fight, it's true seriously! You can hide from them, know one else knows this but if you hide in the gaps of the walls by the side of a hole (choose the left one) just wait there and 'til you get the checkpoint, now isn't that just awesome! Then slap the flood with led once you've come out of hiding like Sadam Hussain.
